Crib Bedding

Hi Ladies,
I am just now starting to get my daughter's nursery going and the color scheme/theme I want is not available in the nursery bedding sets you find at BBB or BrU. I am doing a teal/pink/coral mermaid theme for the nursery. I have selected some sheets (white with teal scallops that look like fins) and a matching teal bumper but I cannot for the life of me find a plain pink crib comforter or skirt. They all seem to be sold in sets- and if they are not, they are ridiculously pricey. Has anyone had any luck online or in certain stores to buy these items separately?

Also, any places you can suggest to get an inexpensive dresser.

thank you!

  • Look at places like Target (Circo) or Meijer (Falls Creek Baby)...if you have one for separate pieces. You actually would do better with a nice soft blanket instead of a comforter.

  • Pottery Barn Kids has a great selection of crib bedding, and you don't have to buy it as a set.
  • Also look on walmart.com and amazon. Tons of stiff there.
  • Try Carousel Designs. We used them for our daughter's nursery. You can choose from all kinds of fabric. Quality is good and I thought the prices were reasonable. Baby Bargains rates Carousel Designs highly for bedding.

The only thing that should be in your child's crib, besides the baby, is a sheet. So those things are cute but a total waste of money (I know this from experience). The crib skirts are cute on cribs you can see them on (mine hid the whole thing) and you could probably find someone on etsy to sew it for you.

ETA: If dresser quality doesn't matter to you, Walmart, K-Mart, and Target all sell pretty cheap ones. I'm personally partial to Ikea. Goodwill and thrift stores usually have good deals on furniture. It'll probably take some searching though.

  • I am very much aware of what I should have in the crib with the baby when she is asleep. Thank you to those who simply answered my question. The blanket is obviously for show and she will not be using it for a long time.
