Baby Names

Ansley or Lainey

We are having a hard time deciding on a name for our fourth girl. Our current favorites are Ansley and Lainey. Middle name will be Elizabeth. Thoughts? Sisters are Karstyn, Hadley and Aylah

Re: Ansley or Lainey

  • Of the two, I...would go with Lainey I guess. I really dislike the harsh nasally sound of Ansley. I don't think it's remotely pleasing to the ear.

    Are you up for suggestions?

  • Lainey, though that's my dd's name so I'm biased.

  • I like Lainey as a NN for Elaine or Elena or even Delaney (though Delaney is nms). Ansley is a bit harsh sounding in my opinion.
  • There is a recent thread about Lainey - most posters agreed that it sounds like a NN for a toddler, but that it doesn't age well for a full name for an adult. Ansley (I prefer the spelling Ainsley myself) is ok, but I think you can do better. Suggesting Eleni, Eleanor, Adrienne, Aisling, Delaney, Maren, Naomi.
^^ Agreed. I'm also not a fan of Ansley.
    Suggesting Aubrey instead. =)

  • Neither.
Lauren. Ashley. Amanda. Lindsay. Willa. Violet. Theresa. Willow. Josephine.

I don't even like Liesl or Simone but I think they're better than the two you have and sounds like something you'd like.

I just want to say I love your siggy @GSUDavis

I like Lainey a lot but I think I would go with a "fuller" name like Elaina or Delaney, etc.
    Thanks! =D

  • Elaine was on the very top of our baby name list for the sole reason that I love the nickname Laynie.  So, I vote Elaine (or even Alayna, or something like that) and go with the nn of Laynie.
  • Neither.  PPs have given a lot of great suggestions.
  • Delaney or Elaine NN Lainey. Ainsley is NMS.

  • Ainsley sounds like anal ease to me...so any name but that would be a step up even lainey.
  • Lainey of the two, but I don't like NNs as FNs.

  • We have an Ainsley and we *always* get compliments on her name. =)
  • I'll vote for Audrey or Audra. Whatever you do don't choose Oona or Roison. Wtf is that???
