I was looking at old pictures last night because I have yet to organize anything from like the past year and a half  @-) I was shocked at how small DS looked just a year ago. Who said my babies can grow up?!

Every time I see the pictures from DD's one year session I get so sad, she still looked like a baby this time last year and now she looks like a kid. Bums me out some times.
I agree, they definitely look more like kids now.  At one year, DS bearly had any hair (he's a really light blonde so he looked bald with the little he had!) and he only had four teeth!  Now's he's this little man at 2!

    It's too fast!

We have a new HR director. During meetings in her office, she whips out a little bottle of EO and starts sniffing it to relieve stress. I'm all for stress relief, but does it strike anyone else as odd that she wouldn't just wait until she's alone to do that?
Yes, that seems odd.  I wouldn't want to do something that would draw attention to me during a meeting, especially if I were new to a position.

  • @melody921 that is really strange. At least wait until everyone is gone.

I'm still looking at rugs. I'm over rugs. I think we're going to do runners instead of a large area rug.

We found a new car we really like last night. Who has an Acadia? I think @hmp1? It's a 2012 fully loaded (-DVD player) with 40,000 captains chairs My payment would be $30 more than it is now for a 5 year newer vehicle and half the miles but I'm not sure.

DS made me a cup of coffee this morning in his kitchen. He comes running in our room and was so proud, then he told me it was hot and I had to blow on it. So cute!

I love my Acadia. We have a fairly loaded one, double sun roof/captain chairs... but didn't do a dvd player since we ERF. I bought mine used too so it was an even swap money wise for my previous car but the Acadia has more miles. The only problem we have had (that was not caused by us, lol) was the power steering but that was a recall item so fixed for free. I love the captain chairs but the only annoying thing is that I can't reach the pit without taking my seatbelt off. It is only an issue on road trips, we we are just running around town "too bad so sad" if you drop a toy down there. I'm 5'9 and we have the captain chairs all the way back and I can still sit in the third row with my mom who is 5'4. We take the neighbor boys with us to a lot of places on the weekend and a booster fits great in the 3rd row.

  • The little girls are sick, last night Sawyer was having really bad coughing spells and had trouble catching her breath. Every single time one of my kids gets a cough I have an irrationally large fear that it's whooping cough. There have been so many cases in CA and San Diego in the past year, it freaks me out.

Aww, hope they're better soon. We all had really bad coughs around Christmas time. It sounds so much worse on LOs, doesn't it?

Or apply it to her wrists and sniff those? Weird.

This car sounds exactly like yours. Currently we have a Ford Edge and it love it but I've finding it increasingly difficult to be comfortable in it with him behind me. He's FF now and can kick my seat. As he gets taller and he's tall now at 37.5" I think it could be an issue. The DVD wasn't a big deal to me as we have a portable for DH's car. Mine currently has it in the ceiling. I don't think we'd really use the 3rd row much but I love the idea of captains chairs.

  • @jenndub  I hope they feel better.  It's so sad when they cough non-stop.

Maya has allergies like DH, so she starts coughing every morning and doesn't stop until everything drains.  She has also had a cold the last few weeks, so it has been worse.  We have been trying to teach her to blow her nose, but she won't do it.  So she spends most of her mornings hacking and coughing and I'm in the constant do-I-send-her-to-school-or-not? mode.

I think we're going to go check it out tomorrow or Saturday before our date night. I wasn't even in the market for a car then this popped up. Might be a sign! Thanks!

  • Hi ladies! I'm home with the boys today. Colby spiked a fever at daycare yesterday. I left work early and brought him to the pedi (momtuition I guess ) double ear infection and strep. Keagan and I also have strep and ear infections so I knew It was inevitable. this is my 4th Day off work since I started 10 weeks ago and the 3rd time I had to leave early unexpectedly. Go ahead and ask how much time H has missed from his job? Not even an hour. I don't even care because I don't want them with him anyway, but I'm annoyed that he had the balls to file for full custody.

For the most part I am caught up on everything around here but I feel like a dirty lurker because the threads are too dead for me to post in by the time I read them. Now that the holidays have passed hopefully I have more time to be a little more active in the evenings at least! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

@pokedot, how will the new car affect yourinsurance? Newer cars are also a lot more expensive to register so keep that in mind!
@jenndub I hope your return to work was uneventful! Sorry to hear the girls are sick. It's so sad when they are sick! And congrats on the raise!
    @amandad715 good luck!!!!!!
@redneckmomma25‌ in regards to a thread from a few days ago about having the second kid, you will surprise yourself! It's not going to be easy, I won't lie, but it is so worth it! Keagan and Colby are best friends, I love sitting back and watching them play together!
@tinyhumantoe‌ good luck at your NST! Have you decided on a name yet?

I'm been watching too many crime related shows. DH and I are watching an episode of Boardwalk Empire every night after kids go to bed. I then watch an episode of Orange is the New Black before I turn in.

I've had illegal activity dreams all week. I'm not sure that's good. Haha.

Oh man, I've been having some weird dreams lately Too! I can directly correlate them to stress though ;)

  • @Holly_1007 Your former H does have some balls filing for full custody!  I am annoyed for you too! He probably did it in an attempt to get out of paying you child support - some men.  However I don't see what judge would ever grant his request - you are an awesome mom :)

It's already hard to balance sick kids with two parents who take time off work, I can't imagine how frustrating it is that your DH isn't helping out.

Why did he file for full custody?  I would be insanely pissed, so I can only imagine what you're going through.  Do you think he really wants the kids full-time?

  • @Holly_1007 Hope you and your boys feel better!  Double ear infection and strep sounds like an awful combination!
  • That awkward moment when you eat two pieces of pizza for lunch with everyone, then someone walks in your office and sees you eating what you brought for lunch, too.

I feel like all I've done is eat this week. Mostly good choices, since I keep string cheese and fruit and crackers in my work fridge. I say mostly because I'm also craving Reese's hardcore this week and there may be a bag of miniatures in my teacher bag. I also want a Pepsi right now. Ahhh...

  • Today was supposed to be the first full day that I was going to do less TV and
more play and crafts. Yea...that lasted about an hour. So far we've watched one Dora, one Bubble Guppies and a 1/3 of Frozen. Not all at once, but still.

I really need to do less TV but I also just need her to be chill sometimes, too. I think if I can get it down to one show a day by February, I'll be doing good. Realistically, though, winter is the worst time to do this since we can't go outside as much.

  • @Holly_1007‌ I hope everyone feels better soon. Sick kids are awful.

When DH went to get Aria this morning, she had puked at some point in the night and I never heard it. I checked on her when I got home just after 9 and she was fine. She was mostly herself this morning, so maybe it was something she ate? She had scrambled eggs and fruit for dinner though since I had a dinner out last night. Daycare hasn't called, so she must be doing okay.

Worst part: Both lovies had to go in the wash this morning, and we had to send one of the 'B-squad' lovies with her. Naptime should be interesting.

  • Here are pictures of the blinds in the baby's room.  What kind of curtain rod can go over these suckers?

Also, any cute little curtains?  I have lace bloomer curtains in W's room, but would like 2 short panels per window for this room so I can slide them open and closed.  I like white, but am open.

I read an article about parenting techniques and how certain things can affect kids in the long run. The one that stuck out most to me was being afraid of your child and just giving in to their crazy demands (when they ask for the blue cup when you've poured milk in the red cup...things like that) so they won't tantrum. I do this so much so I decided to try it today and see how quickly she gets over her tantrums. Y'all, she got over it so quick. I was amazed! I think we've had a breakthrough! She still threw fits when she couldn't have the pink cup (there wasn't even a pink cup clean) or couldn't eat Cheerios for lunch after I had already cooked the chicken nuggets, but after a few minutes and her realizing that I wasn't going to change it, she just went with it. I know this will be a long, ongoing struggle for both of us, but I really feel like if I stop being such a pushover now then life will be just a little bit easier in the future.
We are going through the same thing. Another trick I learned is when he throws a fit - I tell him to either stop crying and tell me how I can help him, or he can go in his room to cry and we can try again when he has calmed down.
