Italian DVDs

So, a few weeks ago I posted about how I purchased DS some Elmo and caliou DVDs from Amazon.it in an attempt to teach him Italian. A few of you seemed interested, so I thought I'd update. I got them in today, and apparently DVDs are not universal. (What a shocker). The DVDs did not work in the ps3 or in my regular DVD player, but they did work on my laptop. I had to change the "zone". It says you can only change the zone 4 times. It's an old laptop I barely use so I don't care, but just a heads up if anyone was thinking about it.

Also, he is sitting here watching Elmo and doesn't seem at all phased by the fact it's in a different language. He is reacting to the plot (from the pictures I'm sure). Maybe he'll pick something up

@mcbenny, it's totally an experiment. People (kids especially) pick up languages so much faster with immersion, which I can't exactly provide. The DVDs meant to explicitly teach a language are so so boring; at least these he will watch

Yeah. I know what immersion means. Since I can't live in Italy and I don't have any fluent people to have my kid live with, I am trying something out.

No shit a DVD doesn't equal immersion
