Toddlers: 24 Months+

hungry all the time?

DD has always been a snacker and is always asking for food every 2 hrs or so. I never thought it was an issue since I always offer healthy foods (fave snacks are broccoli pieces and wheat bread) but the ped has said to schedule meals. I've been trying but it seems like it's just not working for us. do y'all schedule meals for your toddler or just go with the flow?

Re: hungry all the time?

  • I'm hungry every 2 hours too.  I eat 3 meals a day and at least 3 snacks.  Some people are snackers and some aren't.  I would do what's best for you and your DD.
  • Our pedi told us to schedule meals too. We are dealing with a problem eater though ( more serious than just pickey) and so we have to do it this way. She gets her meals and snacks at scheduled times that work with her daily routine. Everything I read regarding healthy toddler eating suggests scheduled meals.

We have scheduled meals, but do small snacks if they ask think cheese sticks or fruit.  Something quick and easy with little clean up.

This. DS is a snacker so we just try to not let it ruin his appetite for meals.

Us too. She'd snack nonstop if we let her but we require that she join us at the table for meals. No snacks in the hour or so before a meal.
