Pregnant after IF

Someone spilled the beans. Thoughts?

My boss was aware I was going through ivf for the past year. She knew I received my bfp. Today I received a text from a very good friend that said people at work knew I'm pregnant. Now I know for sure that the friend I told didn't release the info. So my finger points back to my boss. I happen to be a supervisor also. I don't want my team feeling as though I lied to them but I had planned on waiting until I was 12 weeks. So should I make the announcement early or just wait and let them all talk? Thoughts?

  • That's terrible.  Most people I know don't make any announcements until 12w, and that's including people who haven't struggled with IF.  Your boss way overstepped her boundaries, and I think you should address it with her.

Of course, that doesn't fix your current problem.  I like @RunCC37 's advice, to acknowledge the rumor, but let people know that it's not up for discussion right now.  I think most reasonable people would respect your request.

  • If it were me, I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with announcing just yet. I would just let them talk. If someone said something to me (which most people don't ask until they're told, except for some rude people), I would just say something like it'd weird to be the last one to know I'm pregnant or brush it off. When yoyou are ready to do announce, people should definitely understand.

  • Ugh. How frustrating! I had something similar happen with my supervisor telling our admin assistant (with a big fat BIG mouth) about why I needed the day off on FET day. I flat out confronted both the admin and my boss, and said that my business was NOT theirs, and not meant to be shared.

Kudos to you for saying something to both your friend and boss- I would have handled the same way.

    My History:
    Lots of BFN's & failed IUI's w/clomid and/or femara
Finally BFP with femara & t.i.- son born 6/17/2010
Started TTC again around when DS was 3ish
    Lots of BFN's with femara & t.i & ovidrel
Tubes clear, S.A came back low motility but high count
About to switch to injectables w/femara, did one last cycle with just femara & an IUI with ovidrel- stupid motility was fantastic in the sample, but count was 700,000 AFTER wash! Had to sign a paper to even still do IUI- BFFP (big fat freaking positive) Go figure!

    1st Beta 13dpiui 54, 2nd beta 48 hours later 115, 3rd beta 48 hours later 310, 4th beta 72 hours later 1748.
  • Came to work tonight and all is quiet. So I'm assuming either no one has the balls to say anything or it wasn't as wide spread as I thought. So frustrating though!!

@iheartsippycups‌2 I say that all the time. Lol!! Great minds think alike!

  • First of all...how flipping rude!!! That is your exciting news to share and not work gossip!!! I absolutely hate when people think it's their place to open their mouth...about anything...especially something that is so important to you!!
I agree with @RunCC37‌ ... acknowledge it, possibly explain why it hasn't been mentioned from YOU yet, and when the time is right then make your announcement!
