steroid shots for babies lungs

I'm 26 weeks now and pregnancy hasn't been the easiest, but manageable. Yesterday my Dr. said he wants to give me steroid injections to speed up our babys lungs so he can induce me at 37 weeks. Does this sound right to anyone or has anyone been through this? I'm really concerned about side effects.
