If you could go back..

Would you pick pick a different name for kids?

Sometimes I wish I could. But really I think I'm just sad I won't be naming anymore children. Haha

If H suddenly didn't have an opinion I think I would choose my top picks originally. But they do fit there names so well now so it's hard to imagine.

  • I know Harrison doesn't get a lot of love here, but I feel like it's a good fit for my son. I could see him as a Henry though, a name my H decided he liked after my son was already born. They're both very similar and derived from the same name.
Started adoption process in Jan. 2011.
    3 failed matches in 2012.
    Surprise pregnancy in Aug. 2012.
Precious baby boy "HC" born May 2013.
    Began researching EA in 2014.
No longer pursuing EA due to fibroid complications.
Officially on the adoption home study wait list.

  • No, I definitely wouldn't. Her name fits her perfectly. It may be corny, but I really feel like in that case, she chose her own name. It was just instantly drawn to it and couldn't get it out of my head from the moment I heard it, even though I didn't really it like that much at first. We'll see if the same happens once this baby comes out in a few months!

I love both Harrison and Henry.  Both on my phantom baby boy lists.

I would not change any part of DD's name.

Yes! I would change my daughter's name. Both first and middle- in fact I almost did! My husband wasn't totally on board with changing it though so I'm just making it a point to call her by name. I'm still 90% sure we are going to change her middle name in the next month.

The only thing I would change is DD's middle name. DH picked it and it just feels like a "filler."

  • No way! their names totally fit who they are! I will say, coming up with #3 is difficult though.

  • I love DD1's name but I very much compromised with DD2's name.

If I was able to go back I would still use a Isla because it fits her, but I would maybe change her middle name from Beth to Elizabeth.
We used Beth because Elizabeth seemed a little L heavy with Isla, but now family has trouble understanding that Beth is just a middle name and not a double name like DD1...

  • No, we do call my ds #4 by his middle bc his father did not want him called William (which is his first name).  I love all my boys' names and wouldn't change a thing.
  • I wouldn't.  It wasn't my first choice name for him, but now it's become my favorite.

  • Never. We spent so much time carefully picking out a beautiful, classic , meaningful name for her.
It's perfect, and I love it. Same goes for LO2s future name.

DD could easily have had 2 other name combos, but I still love her name. She has another name pre-adoption that would have fit her as well if we had kept it
  • Well, my kids are only 14 months old and 6 months in the womb, so I haven't had a chance to be tired of them. But I never once second guessed DS's name. I love it and it suits him.

If he had been a girl, he would have been Lucy, and I'm glad he wasn't because I would be wishing I could change that one.

I do understand the urge just to use all the names you love. I think we'll be done at 2, and my main regret with that is I'll never get my Bennett. (Not really a good reason to keep having kids, though).
