Thank you for sharing.  With all of the variables that exists between each patient and every situation, medicine will never be an exact science.  I can't say which side is right, but articles like these are very thought provoking.

I have to agree with one of the comments on the article that stated the story makes a good case for having a doula who can serve as the patient's advocate.

Thanks for sharing!  This is my biggest fear. I agree with the article as I've read it other places as well that the caesarean rate is too high and not reflective of last resort need. It does become a crutch for some doctors. And we are a bit helpless in the process since we are not experts and can't decipher between actual need vs conservative approach. 

Not sure what the answer is if you are someone who will only consider caesarean as a last resort. How do you protect your wishes while still staying safe?

It's tough! I think the best advice I've heard is to make sure you medical team is supportive of your plan. That way if they end up having to deviate from it you know it's for the right reasons.
