So excited! And a question

Can I AW my stash for a sec? I just love it and no one else really gets it, I've been on a mission this week to get it done during my time off this week and I could really use some opinions. For newborn I have: 5 rearz nb prefolds, 18 bummis infant size prefolds, 3 BG nb, 2 simplex nb aio, 3 bummis covers (nb or sz one) and 1 rumparooz cover. For later I have: 7 BG 4.0, 6 fuzzibunz OS, 4 AMP OS pockets, 1 omaiki OS AIO, and 1 best bottoms OS(the kind the liner snaps into ?hybrid). As well as 2 hemp boosters (red stitching) 1 hemp insert (blue) and 8 bamboo inserts (green stitching) Extras include: 2 sm/med wet/dry bags and 1 lrg hanging Wetbag. Other than snappis (how many) what am I missing? What should I do with my used diapers to clean them? Bleach soak and then an RLR soak?

I don't know about the sizing of Bummis prefolds but your infant sizes may be a little bulky at first. That's probably ok, just something to know.

For later you want about 24 changes to wash every other day, but wait until you see how you like the things in your NB stash before buying more for your OS stash.

  • Agree with PPs. Maybe get a dozen flats to round things out? They're inexpensive, and they're so versatile at every stage.
  • I also agree, you need some more nb size changes.

I use the bummis infant size prefolds, but not at nb size. You can, but they will be just a bit bulky. They are about the equivalent of a GMD small.

As for snappis, get at least the 3 pack, but I would get more. When you switch between prefolds and aios/pockets the snappis are always getting misplaced, or left in the diaper bag, etc.

I survived just fine with a 2 pack of Snappis for a long time. I only recently bought a second 2 pack because I set up a change station on the main floor too, and since we don't use it that often really we only use 2 snappis regularly. (Although it's nice to always have the 3rd one in the diaper bag all the time).

ETA: have you considered getting a set of Boingos? I will say I went with 2 Snappis and a pair of Boingos, so that makes a difference. Boingos are great for newborn stage when flats a prefolds practically meet in the middle and a snappi I'd almost too big. And Boingos are also great when your inbetween sizes, they help prefolds that are getting too small stretch a bit longer, since they can do up each side with very little overlap.

  • I started with 1 Snappi, 1set of Boingos, and a couple sets of pins. I'm older/weird I preferred pins over Boingos and the Snappi.

  • Do you think I have enough covers for nb with 3 bummis and 1 rumparooz cover in addition to 3 nb aio and 2 nb pockets?

that's enough covers if you're planning to wash daily, or handwash covers as soon as they are soiled. 6-8+ is probably a better amount if you prefer washing eod.

  • I went through more covers when I just padfolded the prefolds. Once I switched to jelly roll with a snappi my covers stayed clean for days. I really only needed the three RaRs I bought and I only had two dozen prefolds so I washed every day and a half-ish.
  • Ok I'm ordering 2 more rumparooz covers (jewelled and Bonnie) ,should I get nb or OS? I have 3 bummis nb whisper wraps and 1 OS rumparooz.

  • What everyone else has said. With os, new prints are always coming out so don't feel like you need the whole stash up front. You more than likely will want others down the road. My stash is way bigger than what it technically needs to be, but this gives me time from washing to stuffing, before we run out.

  • DD is 5 wks old and we have 6 covers. (3 thirsties xs, 1 rumparoos NB, 1 bummies NB, and 1 sweet pea NB). I rarely reach for the rumparoos even though I know they get a lot of love!

I wash every other day and wouldn't want less that 5 covers (we have a few aio thrown in there as well but primarily use prefolds and fitteds.)
