Pregnant after 35

The Bump to-do checklist

(All of this is meant to be humerous and sarcastic)

This weekly to-do checklist on the Bump is freaking me out. This is my 2nd kid in 2 years. They need a more realistic checklist for 2nd kids and beyond. Get the nursery ready? Really? It's the 2nd trimester. Right now, there's another kid sleeping in there. How about this: 38 weeks: buy some newborn diapers, set up the bassinet in your room. DONE. Oh, sure, include doctor's checkups, tests, picking names, planning maternity leave, etc. But rearrange some of the other stuff.

  • My fiance' and I currently share a townhome with my sister.  We won't be getting our own place til about May (two months before my due date).  So, yeah, the nursery will have to wait until then, lol.

Question.  Do any of you take pictures of your belly each week?  This is my first kiddo and I have yet to take any.

  • I never did before. This time around I take one maybe every 4 weeks or so.

  • I'm doing every 4 weeks in the same outfit and against the same wall every time.  It's pretty entertaining to see how much things have changed from the first one to now (8 weeks to 24 weeks).
  • @jerseygirl227 - I took pics about every 3-4 weeks with the first one. With this one, I took my first pic today. It was just to text to a friend to show her that I still have the questionable fat vs pregnant look to me.

I also still haven't gotten my act together with the baby book for DS#1. He's 19 months now. Know when my entries stopped for his book? When my maternity leave ended. Fat chance I'll even do a book for this one.

  • Speaking of weekly pics........DH and I had an idea the other day (and it's too late to do now) to do a weekly bump picture holding the piece of fruit / veggie which matches the size of the baby.

  • Sorry for all the posts! I thought of some other items for the STM to-do list (all to be done 36 weeks and beyond, obviously)

    - get infant carseat out of storage. check expiration dates.

    - Install carseat

    - get newborn and 0-3 month clothes from storage and wash out milk / poop / vomit stains which you didn't notice when you packed them away last time.

    - Clear out a dresser drawer for the clothes mentioned above.

    - Remember that infant tub you saw when you were getting out the clothes and carseat? Yeah, better go back and get that too.

    - make sure someone is available to babysit the other kid while you're in the hospital

    - Make sure your breast pump has all of the parts. Oh heck, this can wait for awhile.

    - Clean the spilled cheerios and puffs out of the diaper bag and put a few newborn things in there.

    - Make sure the infant tylenol isn't expired. If it is, make a mental note to get more at the hospital before you leave with your newborn

These cracked me up... Esp about washing out milk and other stains from clothes... I was just sorting the 3-6m batch today bc this girl is starting to bust out of size 3m, and oooopssss, so many stains....and these were last used in the summer of 2012... Haha...
  • LOL I love this post. That's exactly what I think when I read those checklists.  Take a picture of your bump.. start researching pediatricians (even tho that's valid with your first)... all this stuff I haven't even thought about.. let alone actually done.

My daughter is still sleeping in the nursery too. lol  She's still using the high chair.. the strollers.  She's 2 so she's not in the infant seat but she's using a lot of the other stuff. She's not potty trained yet so she's still using the changing table too.  it's just funny.  This is our third and I haven't really done anything.  We did sell almost ALL of our baby stuff so I do have to go out and get some things.  I did find a swing and a boppy pillow with 2 covers on a local for sale site here where I live so that was a good buy. I got both of those for $40.  They're super clean.. like new.  But that's all I've done so far. I haven't gotten clothes out or cleaned anything up or anything at all.  In fact,  our house is only a 3 bedroom. So at some point we have to move our master into the finished basement that is currently our play room and move my daughter into our current master bedroom.. which really isn't much of a master.. they call it a master because it has two closets but that's pretty much it. lol   But we haven't even gotten her a new bedroom set or anything yet.  I'm due June 3rd but I'm expected to go around 05/20.

  • It's funny.  I saw on my page the other day that I had 45 overdue things to do!  After the brief, initial "OMG" moment, I took a breath, lol-ed and looked through the list.  Eh, I am good. :)
