I don't know if this is common knowledge and I am just now catching on or what but I couldn't get my sig to save going through the link to 'avatar and sig' when you go through the my account button but I clicked on the little guy all the way to the right, next to where notifications and messages appear and clicked "preferences" and over to the left of the page there's an option for "signature settings" and editing through that link actually saves and it's exactly like making a post on a forum, way easier!
Hopefully that made sense and can help someone out, I know I was glad to figure it out!
