2nd Trimester

Sleeplessness

Hi Everyone!
Happy Holidays!
22 weeks today and I'm exhausted by 8pm still. I realize this is because I wake at 2-3AM and find it impossible to get back to sleep. Still working, brain of course on overdrive. Wish I could meditate but not working. Any suggestions?
It's not that I'm in pain or uncomfortable it's just literally I cannot drift back to sleep.
Sigh! Thanks for your feedback in advance! Happy and Healthy to all!

Unfortunately this was my Sept, Oct and Nov. I woke up between 2:30 and 3:30 every single night. I worked night shift so I wouldn't get to bed before 10:30. My boss was an ass and wouldn't change it even though I have a very flexible job and she could have. The lack of sleep killed me since my job is fairly physical. I ended up stopping work early because I was a zombie. I've been making up for it now though.. Lots of sleep and naps, I'm constantly exhausted. Good luck!

Edit: I couldn't find anything to help me sleep. Sorry!

  • I've suffered with insomnia from well before I got pregnant. Having to pee every hour doesn't help :(

I'm not an expert but I suggest getting up. More often than not, I stress about sleeping, resulting in being even more awake. Get up, make a hot drink, read or watch tv then see if you can put yourself back to bed. I kinda like to do my bedtime routine again, trick my brain into sleep routine.

I'm at work and knackered like you, I sympathise!

    Good luck!
  • Benadryl and Tylenol pm are ok'd by my OB to use on occasion. Maybe see if there's anything your doc recommends.

  • Unisome sleep tabs are supposed to be safe for pregnancy.
  • Benadryl and a u shaped pregnancy pillow have helped me get a better night's sleep.
  • I understand and sympathize! The same happens to me. Watching the clock and knowing you have to be up at a certain time is one of the worst feelings!! I'm 18 weeks as of today. I try really hard not to take any meds to help...I know it sounds Pollyanna but SOMETIMES making a mental list of what I'm thankful for helps. Hope it gets better soon!!
  • Well, prenatal massage could help you get the right amount of sleep. I got it during my pregnancy and did not face any trouble.
  • Thank you ladies. Exhaustion took me over last night and I slept through but can't have that as my only way out. Will speak w OB about suggestions.
    Appreciate it!! Xo
  • I have yet to have a good nights sleep since hitting the second tri. I'm buying some sleepy time tea in hopes it'll help me sleep. It was so bad today I napped at my desk
