Sleeping (mommy)

Wth is wrong with me? I wake up exhausted in the mornings after getting 8 hours of sleep (I have a great sleeper but not trying to brag) and cant wait until the next time I get to sleep. I am usually tired all day. Well every night I try to go to sleep at a decent time and I can never fall asleep! I toss and turn and try to convince myself that im tired but it doesn't work :( Anyone else feel like this? I used to fall asleep fairly quickly.

Re: Sleeping (mommy)

  • You sound like my friend lol. I kinda want to smack her.

But in all seriousness even as sleep deprived as I am I can't seem to fall asleep. Usually 9 is my magic time. If I go past I'm up till 11.
  • Sorry I just wanted to point out that LO has nothing to do with me being awake. She sleeps great and I dont. I even try telling myself that I need to take advantage of being able to sleep all night and that it could be worse.

  • I am sorry you are having issues too :( I just lay in bed on my phone looking up random stuff. I was looking on the VBAC board for planning my next delivery and im not even TTC! Idk why I feel like that needs to be decided at 11:00pm!
  • This is me. DD is a great sleeper once she finally goes to bed. I'm exhausted begging her to fall asleep and the moment she does I'm wide awake. Like....... Right now. DD is wide awake and I can barely keep my eyes open

  • Me too... DS sleeps 12 hours and I'm up every 3 for no reason.
  • I was just telling my husband this. My LO is not a very good sleeper and yells out like every hour sometimes so that might explain it but I am exhausted all day and then by bedtime I can't sleep. I wake constantly at night even if she is having a good night. I feel miserable by morning and can't wait until bedtime since her naps suck. By the time I do get to sleep at night she cries out or wakes up. I'm actually starting to not feel very good because of it but I don't want to take anything to because I won't get the recommended amout of sleep for it with all the waking she still does.

I have left over Percocet from a surgery. I won't lie - I pop one if I have a really hard time falling asleep. I only have two left  @-)

  • Yes! I also have a great night time sleeper (also not trying to brag) but when it comes time for me to wind down and go to bed, it takes forever for me to settle and go to sleep.

She goes to bed at 7ish, so every night I make the plan to relax a bit and be in bed by 9 so I can pump (we give a bottle at bedtime so I have to pump before I go to bed regardless), watch a little TV, and be ready to sleep by 10. She wakes up anywhere between 7-8am so that should give me about 9 hours sleep. Yea....I usually toss and turn for about an hour, then I'm usually awake randomly at 3am for almost an hour. By the time she wakes up I'm still exhausted and then my whole day feels like I'm just watching the clock in anticipation for the next nap or bedtime. Ugh!

So yea, I feel you. I keep saying that maybe I'm the one who could use some sleep training. Lol.

  • I'm the same way. I used to be a great sleeper. Now I wake up a million times a night regardless of whether DS is up. I think I'm paranoid of not hearing DS even though I've never not heard him and I'm so used to getting up.

  • Same here. Some times I am mad when I have to get out of bed (not mad at the kids, just mad in general that I haven't slept much).
I am also a very light sleeper so any noise wakes me up. I am likely up on average 10 to 12 times a night. No advice but stuck in the same boat here
  • Yes! I will be exhausted all day long and the second I lay down, I'm WIDE awake. It's one of the most frustrating things ever.
  • @becole42‌ That Is Very Interesting, I Never Thought About The Possibility Of Hormones! I dont understand why sometimes all my words get capitalized!

  • i'm pretty sure it's related to hormones. I have the same issue falling asleep, but I don't usually feel exhausted the next day. Before baby I could fall asleep easily, stay asleep, and if I got less than 6 hours in a night i was dead the next day.

  • Don't shoot me... But do you work out at all? I know it sounds like the opposite of what one does when tired, but it helps me feel more energized (when I actually make it happen). But if it makes you feel better I haven't worked out in forever so maybe it's an even dumber suggestion than I think it is. I also know that I about slapped DH when he suggested that I start working out again after I complained about this same thing last week.
  • Haha @apinkpelican yes I started doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred on monday :) I was doing really well with it back in November and then stopped for awhile.
  • @bridetobe9132013 Maybe I'll try a video at home too.   I've always been a runner (weather isn't good for that now) or work out at the gym.    DD thinks its funny when I jump around anyways so maybe it will entertain her at the same time I'll get in a workout.
