What could this be? Fever & constipation

So my ds had been constipated since yesterday. Yesterday he also started having a lowish fever, which for him is actually kinda high since he doesn't normally get fevers (99). 

 After giving him a couple doses of a laxative he isn't constipated anymore but his fever is now 102 and he's acting really run down. Dc didn't notice the fever just his energy level, so I'm just now discovering the high fever. No congestion or anything. 

Anyone have any idea of what this could be? Our pedi's office has an after hours care center, would you take him in?

He's 3 definitely not a baby, it just seems like such a weird group of symptoms.

Not a nurse line but an on call doctor line, which makes me feel worse than bringing him in since the after hours line is the docs in his practice vs the docs that just work late....

Oh and I would say dehydration is definitely a possibility. He has not been drinking much. Maybe a pedialyte Popsicle is in order....
