Went to my ob this morning for my 37 week check and I'm 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. I know this could stay this way for weeks still and everyone progresses at different rates.. But just curious, where are you girls at?

I was 2cm and 80% effaced at my 36 wk check up almost two weeks ago. Was shocked that I was that far along since I'd not even had any BH at that point. FTM here
At my 37 week check I was 1.5cm dilated. She didn't give me a % on how effaced I was, but said my cervix had shortened and softened "a little more" since my 36 week check. She can definitely feel her head, but says it's still fairly high.
FWIW, with my son, I was 0cm dilated, and something in the ballpark of 60% effaced (don't remember exactly as it was over 2 years ago) and went into labor the next evening. I had a VERY slow labor, but my son was born 3 days after the appt where I was 0cm.
37 weeks tomorrow, and at my appointment today I was just under 2 cm dilated, 60% effaced, and he is at a +1 station. Does anyone know if it's weird for him to be that low? I mean can I really walk around for weeks with him already past engaged?

I think it is so weird how this happens! Nothing going on one minute and next thing you know here's your baby!
At 38 weeks today I was 3cm dilated and 70% effaced. STM.
DH keeps texting me saying, "So this means you could go into labor any minute?! Are you feeling ok? Is anything happening?"
I told him that it is no indicator that I'll go into labor soon. I mean, it could be another 2 - 3 weeks, or I could be soon, but that's just because I'm 38 weeks pregnant.
So I have a dumb question - can your dilation and effacement go backwards? Or if I'm at 3 cm and 70%, will it just increase until I go into labor? I should have asked my doctor but didn't think about it at the time.
@ "Roxycc55 It is not weird to be 2 cm dilated, 60% effaced, and he is at a +1 station at 37 weeks. You'll probably feel more pressure near your vagina and in your hips. I've been 1.5cm, 75% effaced and baby boy has been in the -1 station since my 37 week appointment. I am currently 39 weeks +2 days. My next appointment is tomorrow, so I will see if I've made any progress.
At 38w2d I'm at 2cm and have been for over a month now! It's safe to say that I am more than ready for some progress! I have an ultrasound on Monday to see how big she is and what to do from here.
I got my cervix checked at 36 weeks and she said she felt the head... didn't give out anymore info... and I'm a FTM so I didn't know what to ask... I'm doing well so I guess I should be ok without too much info right now..
I was "long and closed" at 35 weeks, don't plan to be checked again since I'm a RCS. With DD I had near constant contractions for 3 weeks and was still at 0 effaced and "fingertip dilated" when they started my induction for pre-e.
41 weeks tomorrow and been almost 4cm dilated and 70% effaced with baby low at a +2 station for 2 weeks now. Literally means nothing For when you'll go into labor lol
@Maebb totally can go backwards. Not by much but you can. It's called regressing I think? Happened with my first. I went in at 36 weeks with my first to L&D for contractions every 4 minutes. I was 2 cm almost 3 but did not progress so they sent me home. Had my normal appointment later that afternoon and I was 1.5 cm. I don't think you can regress with effacement though.
I have no idea where I am at this time since I don't get checks with this midwife.

Was 3cm since 32 weeks, but that dropped to 2cm on Friday, 80% as of this morning, station -1.
With DD I wasn't even 1cm, only 50%, and she wasn't anywhere near engaged yet when I went to the hospital for contractions, and she was born less than 8 hours later.
I'm 39 weeks and 4 days and 2cm and 50% effaced. She can feel his head, but says he's not moving into my pelvis. I've been squatting, lunging, sitting on a exercises ball all afternoon hoping to move him down
i've been 50% and 1cm since 36w (i'm 38+5 now). beanie was at -1 at 36w, -3 at 37w, and -2 last week. if they insist on checking, i wish they'd stop telling me since it means nothing.

4 days from my EDD and I've been at 4 cm and 70-80% effaced for 2 weeks now... So, OP, you're right, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. She's moved back in stations, too, went from -1 to -2 in a week... I think the full moon scared her back into my uterus instead of making her come out.

I never thought it was that weird before. It is just funny how people think that every one "walks around" dilated for some long period of time. I remember telling someone I was 0cm when I got back from that appt and they were like, oh well, it will be quite a while then. Not necessarily. I am actually pretty surprised that I even have any dilation going on this time. With my son, it took me 24 hours of contractions 6-7 minutes apart to get from 0-3. I found it totally crazy that some women could get to 3 without really noticing anything. I feel like I worked hard to get there
Last week at 35w5d I was told my cervix was way shorter than she expected it to be. But baby's head was still quite high. I didn't notice baby dropping with my other 2 pregnancies or with this one. When they check all they know is what has already happened. Not what is going to happen. Although, my news did get me to wash all my baby stuff and pack a bag for the hospital!
Well, I went from 0% & 0cm two weeks ago to 60% and 3cm last week. I get to go back Friday and see if I made any more progression. I didn't feel any contractions or BH between the two appointments, so it was a fairly decent surprise to hear that
I wish I knew. The dr wouldn't check me at my 36 week appoinemt. She said they don't do that anymore because it risks the possibility of infection. They checked with my other two and all friends that are pregnant are getting checked at this point. I know that if I'm dilated I can sit here for weeks but it's nice to know still
