    Welcome to 2015 everyone!

I hope you all had a great new year.  H and I ate appetizers and drank too much.  It was nice.

I have a follow up with my own doctor this week (on the 7th, which seems like a busy appointment day for our thread).  When I had the initial follow up she was on vacation.  I think her colleague was flying solo that day.  He was an hour behind and I left feeling like I had more questions than answers so I am looking forward to talking with my doctor.  After that things will be quiet on the TTC front until I do an HSG in March.

    I'm looking forward to everyone's updates :)

ETA: I totally forgot to answer my own QOTW.

I'm going to answer all three: my favorite toy was my EZ Bake oven (I had the makings of a chef even then), my favorite game was monopoly (also somewhat telling....), and favorite pass time was reading (Babysitter's Club, Judy Bloom, the Romona series, Anne of Green Gables).

@meredithcarole‌ thanks for the check-in! how are you feeling?

    @momentomori‌ your NYE sounds perfect!

AFM, I cheated to get my cross-hairs. Maybe I should wait and save that for FFFC? Anyway, the night of my O day temp I woke up every twenty minutes for a few hours before I gave in and just temped. I think that temp was elevated, so I bumped it down a little bit and put details in my notes. I don't have any good historical data because of my wonky cycles, but I think my chart is as accurate as it's going to get this cycle.

NYE was okay this year. DH had to work late, then unbeknownst to me went out for drinks with his coworkers, even though we had plans an hour away from our house. By the time he got home I was in my pjs and got really upset when I found out he ditched me. He talked me into going to the party anyway (2 hours late), and it was fun. He drove so I could drink. I think he felt pretty bad when he saw how upset I was.

I don't know if I'm ready for my RE appointment. I've been emotional the past few days (for no particular reason), and MH's work schedule changed, so he won't be with me. I have a strong feeling that the doc is just going to say I need to lose weight. Given that I made some big workout/diet changes in the past month and finally had a "normal" cycle, I think he's right, but that doesn't make it easier to hear.

QOTW can I just copy everything @meredithcarole‌ wrote? My only difference is that my favorite toy was a tie between easy bake oven and lite brite. I also never read the Ramona series, but I loved Anne of Green Gables and Judy Blume. I'd like to add Goosebumps and Animorphs.

  • @meredithcarole Thanks so much for the check-in.  Your NYE sounds like it rocked!  Good luck on your appointment!  I hope you are feeling healed and well rested!

AFM:  Meh.  2WW.  I'm not convinced of that O, since I got a positive OPK after it.  I had very little fertile CM this cycle.  Plus, with MH's not so stellar SA results, I am not holding my breath.  The good thing is that I feel very little stress over it, which is a nice change.
We joined a gym and are working out tonight.  So, YAY us!
We had an awesome time on NYE.  MH told our best friends and me to meet at a specific address (which happened to be a hotel) 1.5 hours away.  We walked in and he had dinner for us and had decked out the hotel room.  And drinks.  We played Cards Against Humanity and got goofy (which created my skyrocket of a temp on 1/1).  Then, we went to IKEA and spent a bunch of money on NYD.  It was fantastic!

@momentomori‌ I think your NYE sounds awesome! I love Cards Against Humanity.

I saw the +OPK after the crosshairs. I did wonder about that. Well, you DTD after the spike, too, so who knows. I am glad you aren't feeling the pressure, though.

@whitneyandconcep‌ Sorry your New Years started off a bit rocky, but I am glad YH realized his mistake and made himself the designated driver so you could have a little more fun.

Good for you making the diet and excercize changes. I do think hormones can fluctuate a bit wildly when there are added body stresses, but that is only part of the picture. If nothing else, though, it sounds like you feel a little better about yourself for making the changes? And you did it of your own volition, not because you were told to. Most of us could eat a little better and/or excercize more. I hope the appointment goes well. I will be anxious to hear your update.

  • @meredithcarole Thanlks for the check in and good luck at your follow up. I LOVED the Ramona series!

    Happy New Year everyone.

I am glad to see 2014 go, it gave me one last kick in the ass. I fell NYE and spent most of the night waiting for xrays. No breaks so that was good. Don't relive your glory days of roller skating at 37 years old ladies you don't bounce the way you used to.

QOTW: My favorite toy was barbie dolls, my favorite game was Clue and my favorite past time was reading (Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High, babysitters club etc).

Hi ladies!!! I'm sorry I've been MIA the past few weeks. The holidays were crazy with traveling, illness, starting a new job and getting ready to close on our house! BUT I've been lurking and I'm back. :)

@meredithcarole I hope your appointment goes/went well today! Any updates?

@momentomori Sorry your cycle was off, but I'm glad you're feeling relaxed about it! YAY for IKEA SHOPPING! :) LOVE that store!

@whitneyandconcep I think everyone, at some point has cheated to get their crosshairs lol. I hope your RE apt goes well. I was also expecting to be told I needed to loose weight at my first apt, and I was, but my RE didn't harp on it. She knows, I KNOW and she ran my blood sugar to see if it was an issue. It was, I'm finally at my full does of Metformin and I've lost 10 lbs! Maybe you can ask for suggestions or testing if losing weight is an issue?

@stephy1221 I'm so glad it wasn't broken, but sorry you spent your NYE in the hospital! I'm also glad to see 2014 behind us. It gave me a last kick in the ass with a horrible case of strep throat, so I spent NYE in an urgent care. lol

    Update on me:
2 days before Christmas my RE called with the test results from the baby. Everything came back as 46XX - normal female, so really we learned nothing, but my husband felt the baby was a girl, so we're saying that the baby was a normal girl. We named her Cameron and had these keychains made for our mom's as Christmas gifts.image

I had my follow up RE app Monday and we went over the plan! All bloodwork will be done 1/8/14, next cycle we will avoid, but start Chlomid to attempt fixing my O, providing the testing comes back normal my March cycle we will start trying again.

QOTW: I watched every Disney movie 100x's as a kid, I had most of them memorized. I hated barbies but, had 20-30 "squish dolls" (the polly pockets that have rubber clothes). Also, crafts! Painting, drawing, glitter, beads... you name it, I had it!

@YorkieLove83‌ I'm sorry the testing didn't really shine any light on anything. I am glad you named her. Cameron is a lovely name. I think the keychains were a very nice gift, I am sure they were touched to recieve them. I hope your appointment tomorrow goes well.

  • My update: the appointment today was pretty casual. She gave me the operative report (which required me to spend 45 minutes looking up medical terms online to decipher) and reiterated we would wait another 2 months before doing a HSG. She said she preferred not to do an ultrasound because she wanted to let my pelvis heal more. She did, however, think that what the other doctor saw when he did an ultrasound was a hematoma, not a missed fibroid.

The noteworthy things that come from the report were:
    * the largest fibroid was actually 10.5 cm (4 inches - apparently the size of a medium grapefruit)
    * the total weight of the fibroids was only 6 ounces (both she and I were surprised by that)
    * and the one that she suspected was an issue was - it had entered the uterine cavity and apparently it could have been either a) preventing sperm from entering the uterus or b) preventing implantation (it kind of acts like an IUD apparently).

Anyway, here's hoping the HSG shows everything to be open and there are no further issues to deal with.

  • @yorkielove83 I'm sorry you didn't get more answers, but I hope you get regulated and back to TTC by March.

@meredithcarole I hope these two months fly by and you get a good HSG

AFM, my appointment went well. I wasn't emotional at all, so there's that. The RE went through all the tests, and basically repeated what they said earlier (all normal with the exception of one cystic ovary and high insulin). DH's SA had a count of 428 million, 88% motility and 7% morphology, which is all good. My FSH is 7.2 and AMH is 4.81 (if that means anything to anyone).

RE said there are 3 ways to get PCOS - insulin resistance, LH/FSH issue and Free Testosterone issue. I only have the insulin resistance, so he's treating that with Metformin. Even so, he doesn't think I'll be able to successfully lose weight based on my insulin levels. He said with that much insulin in my body, my body thinks that I need to gain weight, and even with diet and exercise, I probably won't be successful. He strongly suggested that I move forward with gastric sleeve. I asked him why I couldn't just eat the way I would after surgery, and he said that it's not just the amount of food that makes a difference - they're not entirely sure why, but it seems the brain changes the way it sees food and metabolizes after surgery, which is what makes it help in my case.

I checked my insurance, and they do cover the surgery after 6 months of a weight loss program under doctor supervision, counseling, etc. I'm going to call tomorrow to get the details. In the meantime, we're okay to continue TTC. I can also move forward with IUI if we want to. It would be medicated with Follistim (he doesn't think clomid will work?). However, it's all OOP, and if we're going to pay for surgery, I can't afford that right now.

Overall the plan is to continue TTC, continue diet/exercise, and pursue surgery. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear, but I feel good knowing what we're dealing with and that we have a solid plan.

Sounds like a lot of good, comprehensive information. It's good that you can continue TTC in the meantime. I am sorry that the information about your insulin resistance wasn't fantastic, but it sounds like you have a way forward there, even if it is not ideal. FX for you with the weight loss!

@momentomori Glad you had an awesome New Years!
@YorkieLove83 That is a beautiful keepsake! I hope your testing goes well.

My Update: I'm just waiting for my doctor's appointment on Monday. My doctor thinks I might have PCOS. We had started some testing for it but now I have to do all the blood work again because I was unknowingly pregnant when we did the first tests. So we're going to do them again! My New Years wasn't super exciting. Had a few drinks and played Life (I won!) The new version is SO much fun.

QOTW: I loved playing with those little plastic horses especially the ones with magnets in their noses. I had over a hundred of them and when I say 'had', I mean still have in a tote in my closet!

Also, note that I'm trying to be a mobile bumper now so please excuse any weird formatting!

I did not know there was an updated version of the game of Life.... I loved that game, too! And the part about the tote in your closet is pretty funny.

I am sorry you have to repeat the testing. That totally sucks. FX the blood work and follow up go well.
