Re: Pregnancy Check-In (1/5/15)
Happy New Year! and the best of everything to all you and yours
We're still waiting on Santana's arrival at this end - which is kind of a good thing, considering that two weeks ago, the word 'induction' was brought up in light of my rising creatinine levels.
With A working/studying for so many hours of the day, we've agreed that it's for the best if I remain at mum's until after the baby is born; with A getting over to us as soon as she knows labour has started. Because of my kidney issues, I went up to the maternity assessment unit today to get the mild oedema checked out.
Four hours later: labs have been run from scratch and come up with no change since before Christmas, continuous monitoring shows tightening to be irregular still and a scan to check-up on her small measurements confirm everything is fine - she's just a small baby.
The doc wasn't too happy about the idea of transferring care halfway across the country at two days post term (which I kinda understand) but it's getting sorted.
Now, I'm walking, bouncing and eating hot curries (although I'm still not enjoying food @ the moment) to try to get this show on the road before someone else looks at my numbers and says 'induce.'
I came down with some kind of cold yesterday and have felt awful. Being pregnant and sick is not fun (TMI warning) I would cough until I threw up sometimes on myself. Frequently sneeze and end up peeing myself. I am basically a hot mess. I was actually able to get some sleep last night and stayed home sick from work today to give my body a chance to relax. I feel a little better but still a lot of coughing, sneezing, and snot. Baby is still kicking away and what I thought were frequent rhythmic kicks I now think may be the hiccups. It is fun watching my belly when she really gets going. I have a growth scan and my 32w check-up on Wednesday so I will get to see her again! I also want to ask about the constant throwing up which is only a nighttime thing but it is basically every night. I tried Zantac and although it makes my throat not burn I still throw it up.
All that said I can not wait to meet her soon!! R and I started the pre-baby to do list yesterday although we didn't get much done because I felt horrible but we will continue the list tomorrow. It is so weird knowing I only have about 16 more days off before we meet this little lady.

Happy New Year everyone! I've missed the check-in for the past two weeks, but happy to be back to a normal schedule this week.
We are now 25 weeks and starting to feel like things are happening quickly..finally! I had an appointment last Tuesday where my blood pressure was high for the second appointment in a row and I also had abnormal amount of protein in my urine. So, I spent New Year's worrying about being diagnosed with preeclampsia this early. I spent Thursday at home watching football and colleting 24 hours of urine in a jug! We received the results this morning and much to our surprise, the urine collection results came back totally normal. We are so relieved! But, that hasn't stopped my DW from insisting on a specialized diet to lower my blood pressure. She even has me drinking 2 cups of beet juice per day! YUM! But, I'll try anything that could possibly aid in keeping this baby inside and growing as he should for as long as possible!
I have two business trips coming up this month (Boston and Vegas) and hope that I am able to manage those without feeling totally wiped out.
Good luck and positive thoughts to those anxiously awaiting their early January births. What an exciting time for all of us!
Wow, some people are getting awfully close around here! So exciting. I can't wait to meet these babies (but please, not TOO soon).
I'm 7.5 weeks, and so far this pregnancy is totally different than my first. I've got a lot of nausea, though no vomiting. So I can handle it. But the exhaustion is something else entirely. I know I was a bit more tired than normal with my first, but this has been almost debilitating. In addition, S has been traveling a lot for work so I've been a solo parent to a tantrum-throwing, hitting toddler. Fun times.
As I posted in a seperate thread, my big concern right now is selecting my care team (well, that and getting through my second ultrasound next week). I'm really torn. I totally agree with the advice that I have been given here on our board, but I'm questioning my ability to put it into place. We'll see. S and I still need to have a really long talk about it all.
The other thing I'm tossing around in my head is a timeline for weaning G. While I support anyone else's effort to do so, I have ZERO interest in tandem nursing. And honestly right now nursing is pretty darn uncomfortable. So I'm trying to figure out what to do. Last night S swooped in and was able to get G to sleep with a few stories and some rocking. If she can keep that up for a few nights in a row, we might make some real progress. We'll have to see.
No thoughts on QOTD ideas. Sorry, I'm tapped out. And it's only Monday!

Ultrasound at 6w4d shows a single, fluttering heartbeat. Say hello to Sticky Ricki!
I'm right around week 19, and I've been doing pretty well. I've been seeing a chiropractor through my HMO for a hip thing (not sciatica, but sacro-ilial things) and he really cracks the bejesus out of me (in a good way!). Related to my partner, my libido is back! Holla! She's glad and so am I.
I signed up for 6 weeks of prenatal yoga at our local hospital beginning in Febraury. I've not taken a yoga class-but I'm hoping to meet some local moms to be, so I hope this will be a good chance.
QOTD option: What did you do (or not do) in your childhood that you're hoping your child will (or won't) do?
