Hi all! I am speaking with my dr at next appt but I wanted some insight...I am irritated and angry alllll the time. Like I have this fire in my chest that won't go away. (Been on anti depressants for over a decade...weaned off Prozac when I was 6 wks...now 13 wks). I am miserable and so is my hunny. Every little thing sets me off. I don't know how to decompress..exercise is out of the question (chronic back and neck issues..even walking makes me hurt worse). I feel like I reallllly need my prozac back, but I am high risk after my daughter was stillborn at 40 weeks a few years ago. Am i alone? I know hormones make us crazy but this feels like way more than that...

  • I can certainly relate to aspects of your posts. I am honestly a very mellow person normally. Since I have become pregnant I find myself acting out in ways that don't even seem like me. After the moment passes, it feels like a out of body experience. My incidents are very minor and comical and everyone seems understand. It seems like this is quite diabilitating for you and can understand your conflict about the meds. It seems like the physical issues and cramping are probably playing a part in your mood too. I think sound medical advice from a doctor is your best bet and perhaps counseling could help too. I feel for you and do not think this is a easy situation especially given your history.

  • I'm sorry for your loss & emotional turmoil. Do you attend therapy with a professional? Can you meditate?

Count to four if you feel like losing it. Deep breathes. Ask yourself-- will this matter in 5 minutes?

  • Get your thyriod checked!!!!!
  • Thyroid was checked in October... :-/ I have attempted meditation and I just can't focus and I am already losing so much pay at work by missing for Dr appts to try therapy..although I have tried that before. A lot of my irritability I'm sure is compounded because of my constant all day headaches. Maybe I just prayers!
  • Thanks! Yes I did...they had me do it over the coarse of only 1 week

I would share your concerns with your provider ASAP and look for a medication alternative that is pregnancy-safe. I was coming into this post to recommend the book The Mood Cure that my midwife suggested to me in my last pregnancy, but it sounds like you already know that this is a longer-term need than adapting to pregnancy hormones. Yes, things like Vitamin D deficiency can matter, but it sounds like you may be able to best serve your baby and yourself (because your wellbeing impacts your baby) by having some urgent conversations with a prescribing physician and perhaps pursuing a second opinion if needed. As for your back and neck, what about swimming, massage, chiropractic adjustment?
  • Thank you all for the responses. My chiropractor is my life saver! And massages I do get when I can afford. I am in the process of switching doctors..may call them tomorrow and sort of put a rush on the new doc scheduling me in to see her. Thank yall again.
