I will begin pumping at work next week. Currently when dd nurses she only nurses one side at a time and we alternate breasts each feeding. Is that how I should pump as well, or go ahead and double pump? Thanks!
Definitely pump both sides, and I wouldn't go more than 2-2.5 hrs between pumps when you first go back. It might be difficult but you will most likely need to protect your pumping time if you want to make it work.
I was met with a lot of resistance when I went back to work, and I had to be very up front about pumping. I even left IEP meetings and parent meetings so I could pump. It was no big deal after a few weeks, but it can be tough in the beginning. Good luck!
Agree - double pump for sure. There is set up time and pack up time, in addition to the actual time pumping. You might as well get double bang for the buck for the time you are spending. I also agree that you need to make pumping a priority or it won't work. Actually set "meetings" in your schedule for those times, so people know you are not available. It's easy to say....I'm too busy this morning, and skip a session, which will eventually snowball and next thing you know you rarely make time and end up losing your supply. GL with back to work!
