What to expect when starting hormone shots...

So I tried searching other discussion boards for some possible side effects/ change of attitudes while taking hormone shots for IVF. Didn't find anything . What was your experience with the shots? Were your emotions unbearable at times? Did you ever feel lunging at your husband for making a comment that normally wouldn't bother you? Only reason why I'm asking is because I have read that tend to mess with your moods. Just trying to prepare my husband for what possibly may happen. Yes, I know, everyone's experience is different, but I'm the type that likes to know what may happen! Thanks again for sharing with me what you are going through !!

I found no difference in my mood while stimming. It was explained to me that FSH and LH are naturally made by our bodies, so they are tolerated well. I'm sure you'll hear a variety of experiences, but a recent poll on this board indicated most women hated BCPs and not the injects.

I wasn't bitchy on stims-- but I was a raging bitch on lupron. Worst med of the whole process.

I should add that although my vote was for menopur, that's just because that crap burns and not because of the side effects.

Menopur burns? LAWD !!! LOL.... I just started BC yesterday, and start Stim in 3 weeks... I'm looking forward to it, but the shots ehhhhhh, still nervous about that!

The menopur does burn a little going in but for me it only was a little stingy. It's tolerable. The anticipation of the shots for me is worse than how they actually feel, but everyone is different. I'm only on day 2 and felt twinges in my ovaries the first night! And today I heard our wedding song on the radio and got all teary eyed. But for me so far it's been a clingy emo, not an angry emo but I don't want to speak too soon! Ha

Yea, definitely just read the symptoms/ side effects.... probably shouldn't have done that. All of them had nausea and boob swelling/ tenderness on there. Read the poll, definitely sounds like BC is going to be the biggest PITA out of all of them, which I'm cool with ! @vballbaby I was leaning towards more of the emo side effects from the meds than anything else. How can one not get emotional when they hear there wedding song on the radio !!!

I noticed no changes in my emotions while taking injects. The menopur does sting a little but you will get used to it eventually

Haha @o2girl! Wow from all the responses it almost seems like BC and progesterone have worse side effects that the injectables. I've started to feel off this evening. Had heartburn which I never get, felt a little nauseous for a hot minute and could not warm up! It passed quickly, after my DH gave me a tums that turned out to have expired sept 08. Love him haha I'm sure I won't die it's only calcium right?

We've been together for 5 years, married for 3 months..... Sounds like his patience will surely be tested within the next few months...... hahahahahaha!! Poor guy!!!

I didn't find that I was emotional on stims personally. I did get a little hormonal on Estrace, and had a few crying jags at work though. I think that alot of times the emotions are attributed to the meds, but really, IVF itself is emotionally trying and there are a million ups and downs, as well as constant change and unknowns. Who wouldn't be emotionally on edge?

I just ordered my meds, and I have the strangest feeling ever at the moment.... Like it's finally for real..... crazy!!!!!

I had no emotional side effects from stims. If anything, I felt cheery.
