39 weeks, bright red spotting

im 39 weeks and just had a little bright red spotting. With my first pregnancy, I had a low-lying placenta and had quite a bit of bleeding, which was my cue to go to the hospital ASAP (all went well with the delivery).


This time, im not sure what to think, since it was just a small amount of blood this time. I'm going to call my dr. but I'd like to hear some other responses too.

My drs have been stressing since 36 wks to come to L&D if any spotting. Hope all is well.

Since I hit 30wks, I've been told consistently by my doctor if I saw any spotting to either call them or go to L&D, especially as I get further along. I wish you luck and hope all is well!

See what your doctor says. Any bleeding in third trimester I was told to contact my provider & L/D.

I was told only to contact the midwife for bleeding "like a period" ... This sounds like "bloody show" which is just from the fragile small vessels of the cervix bleeding as it starts to dilate. I bet you'll start laboring within a day or two (but who knows!) --anyway since this is the internet my official advice is to let your doc know.

Definitely call your doc. With my first I had that and it was the start of labor, but my little guy was also in distress and I didn't realize it. Hoping for some good quick labor for you!!!
