I found out I am expecting on Christmas Day. We are so excited however I am so nervous of our first appointment. My girls were spontaneous fraternal twins and they run in my family. How many multiple mama's have multiple multiples? I have read all the odds but wanted to do my own poll. Thanks!
My twins came with a little help from Femara, although twins run very heavily in my family. My grandmother had 2 sets. She had one single, then 2 years later a pair of identical twins, then 11 months after that a set of fraternal twins. I know identical twins aren't supposed to be hereditary, and they never did a DNA test on the identical set so they may be fraternal after all, but my mother and her sister still look exactly alike 65 years later so who knows?
I don't know how she did it, 4 babies in diapers and a 3 year old...crazy.
My friends that have two sets of twins each have been a result of IVF and FET. However, my grandma's sister had 5 sets of fraternal twins.... so it does happen.
I can think of one poster off the top of my head w 2 sets but idk if they're spontaneous or not.
I also met a mom (randomly at the beach) w 2 sets of fraternals.
I've read the statistics are 1 in 12. We have an older singleton, so those odds are enough to shut it down for us (mine are spontaneous fraternals as well). Let us know!
My twins' pediatrician has 2 sets of spontaneous twins.

I'm a lurker, but I had to post this because I love to brag about my mom. She had 3 sets of spontaneous twins (fraternal, singleton, identical, fraternal). Her mother also had spontaneous twins, so no skipping in our family!

Oh.my.word. Wow. Your mom is my hero.
We decided to stop the baby making after our twins (spontaneous fraternal as of now- planning on doing the DNA test to see if they are actually ID) were born partially because I don't want to have twins again. I adore being a mom of twins and my girls are amazing...but that pregnancy was so brutal on my body and it was so hard to parent my other two kids while pregnant with twins. I know I *could* do it if it happened, but I really don't want to go through that with four kids. It was not just rough on me- it was rough on my whole family!
I had a friend with 2 sets of twins. Turns out, her body releases 2 eggs each month so her doctor told her that her chances of twins everytime she conceives is high. She had boy/girl each time about 3 years apart.
Ours are spontaneous fraternal and my OB tells us we have a 7% chance of a second set of twins. Though I am likely done with kids, I think I would do it again, why not.
My great grandmother had two sets of fraternal twins (18 kids total, 16 surviving), and my grandmother had one set of fraternal twins (11 kids total, 9 surviving). So hyperovulation clearly runs in my family?

I am 100% certain yours are ID!!! I can't wait for the results!
@CaliCarly77 - I go back and forth every day! Some days they look very un-alike to me. But others...even I have to look twice! They were clearly di-di though, so it would be an interesting thing!
