Job interview!

So, over the summer I was applying for jobs as a librarian.  I have since decided to continue SAH, especially since we are planning to start the foster care process in the spring.  However, I was still interested in earning some extra cash, getting out of the house, and utilizing some of my professional skills.  Last week my old boss messaged me asking if I was possibly looking for work - as a massage therapist.  She knew that was the field I was in before getting my degree in library science, and a local place has a job open.

Anyway, I applied to the position, because it is super part time, flexible, 2 half-days per week.  I got a call this morning from the owner and I'm going in for an interview on Wednesday!  This would be a perfect way to get out of the house, work a little, and bring in some extra income, without taking too much time away from B.  I'm super excited!

  • That would be awesome! Good luck.

BTW, as a librarian, do you get ragey when you hear people who simply work in libraries refer to themselves as a librarian? Say a circulation desk employee, page, etc? My mom is a librarian and I have FB friend who works in a library. She has no MLS and refers to herself as a librarian. I was ragey for my mom. Do you get that way or is it an eye roll and move on? To me it's like referring to yourself as a nurse because you work in a hospital. Or a teacher because you work in the school office.

If it is someone who works in a library but not a librarian referring to themself as one, RAGE. General public referring to anyone who works at a library as a librarian, meh. :)

Gah! Yes. Like she'll post something on fb about how she has too many books she wants to read and then she'll hashtag librarian problems. So I decided the next time she does something like that I'm going to act as if I didn't realize she finished her degree and ask when she got it. Passive aggressive? Yep.

Wait, people do that? If you work at a hospital are you automatically a doctor? What the poop?

  • :-h from a fellow massage therapist! I'm still sahm, buy just renewed my license so I can go back to work if I want. It really is the perfect part time job to have as a mom. I mean, even pre-baby I still didn't work 40 hours a week.

I did my ceu classes this past month and it was kind of nice to get out there and get my hands working again. Seems like I never stopped working, even though it was a year and a half ago! Good luck and I hope you get it!

It's been 3 years since I worked as an LMT, and I've only done very occasional massages for friends since then, so I'm practicing on DH & my mom until my interview.
