  • You've found my super amazing housekeeping method, we are home as little as possible! Also the gym thing is nice, I'm so excited to rejoin next week (our gym play care requires kids to be 6 months old to attend) I used to go some days just to get a long shower in!

  • DH invited people over to watch football all day yesterday.  I made a huge crock pot of chili, deli sandwiches, and a huge veggie/fruit tray.

The first 2 showed up at 11am.  Long story short, I ended up going to pick up O'Charley's takeout for everyone's lunch because the chic was 5 seconds pregnant and didn't want to eat anything we had.  I forgot ranch dip so she came to the grocery with me, and threw a gallon of whole milk, pint of blueberries, and a yogurt parfait in my basket.  She doesn't really speak English (she's from Columbia), so I awkwardly paid for her $15 of stuff.

The other people texted at 7pm!! and said they were going to dinner, then showed up at 830.  They stayed like, an hour.

So 10pm rolls around and the first two here are still camped out on my sofa.  They asked DH if they could just stay at our house.  DH got up and went to work at 7am, and I got to awkwardly feed breakfast to the pickiest fucking woman on the planet.  They left at 11 today, and blankets are all over my couch and my sink is full of dishes.

Last time DH gets to plan anything.  Anyone want to come over for chili and sandwiches?  I have MOUNTAINS of food.

Haha, ingenious!  I always stay in the house with W and I think it drives us both nuts!  The key today was to get up before her and shower, so I'm not sitting around waiting for her nap to shower (and therefore not going anywhere).

I would totally sit in the sauna then enjoy a long gym shower every day if I stayed at home with the girls.  Glad you get to rejoin next week!!!

  • I was off today. I purged the kitchen cabinets and reorganized everything. I also did all of the laundry. I decided I was getting the house straight with my days off this week and I don't want to have to stress about not getting it all done on Sunday.
  • I was putting together what I thought was my final Polyvore for James' room, so I can sit on it for a few weeks before purchasing everything. Turns out, either I missed that the bed I Iike doesn't come in a twin or it is no longer available in a twin. Boo! So I just spent the last hour (real busy at work, lol) looking for an alternative around the same price and I'm not finding anything.

  • I feel like when we leave the house I get nothing accomplished. Most of the mess she creates is cleaned up quickly. It's the rest of the house cleaning that takes the real amount of time.

I've been so busy the last week or so. I'm out of the loop here. Never caught up some of the longer threads here. Sorry!

This pregnancy is physically harder. Christmas night after hosting dinner, I could not physically move anymore. My sister stayed to clean up. Same thing New years eve. I catered a party for 50 people with my MIL's sister and a couple other people helping. I hurt so bad for days. It's crazy. I worked until 38 weeks with Grace standing 10 hours a day. I can barely stand a few hours now. Other than that everything else is relatively easy. I have no major issues.

I am so ready for some normalcy. DH was on second shift for a couple weeks and now he's been home for 2 weeks. Plus Christmas and New Years and my brother driving out from OK. I'm ready for boring and mundane again.

I got a bunch of boy hand me down clothes. It's great. I have a good start on clothes. 6mo wardrobe done and a good start on all other sizes up to 2T! I do not like boy clothes as much as girl. I don't find them as cute or fun.
  • Today is:  Call the office and find out my company is closed until Monday, then start calling my cell phone, only leaving a message on the third try.

  • I've been having mom guilt over never letting the kids just play at home.  I don't know if it's the season or what, but it seems like we spend a solid 3 hours every day shopping, and they get dragged along a lot.  I'm giving them some playroom time today if it kills me haha.

They were both beasts last night.  Sophia threw a fit for 20 minutes because she wanted to come downstairs but didn't want to walk.  Julia threw a fit for all of dinner because she's decided she's too old for the highchair.  I don't know how we'll safely institute a booster for her yet though...

DH was so happy to go to work last night, and I worked my stress out by undecorating from Christmas and deep cleaning my house.  Amazing how much decluttering can help you feel like you have a semblance of control in your life again!

Both my kids started eating at the table around 12 months. The seat has a belt but it pushes all the way under the table, snug between the arms and the table, so I didn't use it.

  • @redneckmomma25 my back and pelvis are so achy this time, but the most crippling thing of all is the indigestion that makes me uncomfortable all day and keeps me up all night.  I feel like this has been an easier pregnancy early on, but here at the end it's way worse.

This. Ethan started rejecting us feeding him by 8 months and the highchair shortly after. We bought a booster with a belt that goes between his legs and have been using it ever since.

My heart burn has been better than last. I'm only 26 weeks. Not even 3rd tri. I'm really worried about how bad I will be. I skipped two chiro appt and can feel it.

W only does chairs and won't do a booster.  At restaurants a booth is nice because she won't sit in a highchair or booster.  Sigh....

  • I did my first and probably only BRU trip today. #3rdbabyproblems I got a shower cap style warm thing for the infant seat, a box of NB diapers, a pack of soothie pacifiers and a Nose Freida(which I've always wanted bc I've heard great things about it). DH is uber grossed out by it but I'm intrigued.

@tinyhumantoe‌ I get that SAHM feeling creep in anytime I'm home with the boys for a long break like this and especially summer break.

  • We all stayed home yesterday and played with toys, vegged out, did laundry, etc. It was nice but I feel like we need to get out too.
I've declared tomorrow Family Fun Day. We are going to to SOMETHING(movie, bowling, skating) do a Target run, and then make homemade pizza for dinner as it's our last Sat as a family of 4.

  • Sob story here, death mentioned. ..

MIL passed away on Tuesday pretty unexpectedly 1200 miles away. DH doesn't fly so we headed out immediately. After rummaging thru her apartment and handling arrangements I am an exhausted mess trying to hold it together for him. I am just so sad for him, my daughter, and stepdaughters.

Right now I am so thankful for the support we have at home and just grateful. Grateful for life. Rant over, in case anyone was wondering if I was still alive.

Glad to hear all your holidays were so successful.

  • After a week home with W, I really want to be a SAHM.  I think I figured things out today - GO SOMEWHERE and your house doesn't get destroyed, the kid will get worn out, and it's a blast!

I think if I were a SAHM I would make time to go to the gym every day and let W play at the daycare there.  I would do some library stuff, museums, and all kinds of other things (as well as stay at home sometimes).  Parks in the summer, indoor things in the winter.  I felt so happy just being with her and dawdling around.  It made me realize that all of my life stress is honestly work related.  :(   Now I'm wondering what I'm doing with my life.  I really don't need some type of career fulfillment to be happy.  Anyway.............
I thought I'd love being a SAHM, but it turns out I effing hated it.  Seems the things I didn't like about working were much more about my office taking advantage of me and having a crumstastic managerial structure around me than with actually working--I love going to work.  Ha.  Joke was on me.

THT--I'm gonna be totally honest and possibly wrong but here goes--I agree that the stress you share here is work stress.  But--gulp--much of it feels either self-inflicted or things that you allow to happen.  That is--you have an "if I don't do X that invades me life totally the world will implode" attitude about many things that is either self-imposed or is NOT fair for a boss to put on you and you have not or can not stand up to it. If that's your stress MO, it's not going to go away with a new work environment and a new boss--ie, being at home with kids.  Don't mistake a vacation from what you usually stress about to be a lack of potential stressors.

Not saying you might not be a totally contended SAHM, but I think you do have some "big picture life questions" to consider if the contrast between work and home is this stark for you.

  • Possible TMI: I ended up with an ingrown hair that ended up getting infected. I could barely get up or down, walk, or sleep. I finally went to quick care today and was there for 2 hours. Ouch! Then, the NP wanted to put me on penicillin, but I'm allergic and while we were discussing the other one she wanted to use, I was like, "and this one is safe for the baby, right?" She didn't even know I was pregnant. I'm pretty obviously showing now (25 wks), both nurses that checked me in knew, and this clinic is through the same medical center as my OB. Oy. She did call them to clear this prescription though and I already feel much better.

  • I did get my hair done today! It hadn't been touched since August and I got highlights, plus cut off several inches and did a totally different cut than usual. It looks way healthier. I did not get anything graded between spending so much time at my hair appt and the clinic. Oops.

Yeah, I lucked out with Sophia... she didn't ever give the highchair much of a fight, so when we moved her to a booster, we just got the Prince Lionheart soft booster with no straps.  I don't think she'd be able to even reach the table in a comparable one with straps since she's so petite height-wise.  Our highchair is a graco 4 in 1 that can have the seat lift off and become a chair booster, so I guess that would be the next try, and see if just getting rid of the tray would be enough for her.

Today she was fine at dinner because we really worked on her self-feeding with silverware skills, which made her feel big and forget that the highchair makes her feel small.

Hmm I think that's probably correct in some ways, and wrong in others.  I think the difference between being home and the pressure I feel at my job is that stark.  95% would go away with a new job.

The perfect life for me would be to go back to teaching.  I loved everything about it; I think it lets you have a good family balance.  The level of stress with that job was very manageable for me.  It was "lower stakes" than my current job, just like being an ER doctor would be higher stakes than my current job, for me personally.  I feel like I could appreciate everything about it after this job.

I never really know what to say when the responses to my (admittedly endless) work vents are - tell your boss no / don't do it / etc.  It's just a weird situation all around- I am a company owner and will eventually be a majority owner of the company.  My family is involved, which is a whole different fuck basket.  I have an interest in the success of the company and a level of responsibility there.  It's new technology so that brings other weird problems, and the places that use some of our equipment can't have it go down because of public safety.

Most "self-inflicted stress' isn't because I don't have the nuts to tell my boss no, it's because it has to be done and it sometimes literally comes down to me.  We're all working like dogs, it's not just me.  I feel like when I start to explain the situation a little, it makes me come across as really self-important.  It's not that I'm super duper or something, it's just that there are a handful of things where I'm literally the only person who can do them, mostly because we're a small company with new technology.  Small companies are stretched thin during periods of growth and we keep thinking there's a light at the end of the tunnel, but we've doubled every year for the past 6 and can't seem to catch our breath.

I'm kind of a bulldog at work out of necessity (I can be stern for the good of my company but struggle with it personally?  Psychoanalyze that, ha), but I have to assume that some percentage of my stress falls within my personality.  Someone who frets for days over what to say to a neighbor trying to sell them advocare is surely manufacturing some type of unnecessary stress at work, too.  My guess is it's around 75/25 real vs manufactured.  I would say in my personal life it's the inverse.  75% of my personal stress is due to lack of nuts.  :D
