  • I've never really timed tummy time. He does a ton of it on my but then maybe 5-10 minutes once or twice a day on his playmat. I need to get better about using the playmat. He also has been getting a lot of "sitting up" propped up against my legs or stomach for reading books or interacting. So maybe between 45-60 minutes a day?

I put 60 plus minutes but I put that because tummy time can count for anything where they are trying to support their head on their own and not lying on their back so while she doesn't do the traditional "tummy time" more than probably a couple minutes we get a lot of alternative tummy time in.

This. I've just started doing traditional tummy time at least twice a day 5-10mins. Also when I'm awake I put him on his belly for naps. He likes sitting up and actually has really good head control. He's been able to pick his head up since birth - all the nicu nurses couldn't believe it.

    ETA: he's 7w4d today.

  • Gah. I'm trying to get better at this. Really, I am. But I marked 1-10 minutes because he can only handle 5 minute chunks at a time. He does like to lay on top of us and hold his head up to stare at us.
  • Pretty much the same as everyone else. I voted 1-10 minutes because that's the amount of time she actually spends on her tummy on a mat. Once a day, and it's closer to 1 minute than to 10. Since birth, she's always hated not being able to look around so she'd try and hold her head up any time she wasn't laying on her back. Real tummy time mostly just pisses her off. But if I counted all the time she spends actually working her neck muscles, it would be well over a hour a day.

  • Natalie has been able to roll from tummy to back since she was only a couple weeks old so if I put her on her tummy she just rolls. But I like others help her sit up and she sleeps on my chest a lot
