Re: Post-November babies

  • -Age: 1 month old today! :)

-Sleeping: it varies during the day. Sometimes I'll get a good nap in the morning from 8-10, sometimes he barely sleeps 30 minutes at a time from 6am-5pm. At night he usually takes a nap from 7-9, we do our bath time routine and he is back asleep by 10ish, he's been waking up around 11:15 and is up til midnight and then we get a stretch until 4 and then another until 6.

-Eating: on demand (EBF) so it feels like constantly. We have been giving formula bottles in the evenings when he seems like he's not getting full and it lets FI bond with him and I get a break.

-Milestones: he's started cooing and talking to us some :) just waiting on that smile that's not at my boobs!

    -Questions: none at the moment

-Working On: getting him to sleep longer during the day and getting him to sleep all night in the r&p

-AW: LO has been holding on to my shirt and necklace when he sleeps :) (necklace not so much an awe all the time cause sometimes he pulls lol)

  • Age- 3 weeks 2 days

Sleeping- try to go down at 9pm, usually starts with a 3.5 hour stretch, then wakes to eat and change, down for another 1.5-2 hours, repeat till 7 ish. I've been bringing him into bed for the final stretch, my husband does not like it, he is worried I'll roll on him!

Eating- on demand, about every hour and a half during the day with some random cluster periods happening here or there.

Milestones- smiles? Not sure if I'm just delusional! Very alert.

Questions- I have been using a shield since after the first week, my nipples were so sore I was dreading feedings. I would like to wean him off that, but I'm afraid of the pain returning, why mess with a good thing? Any advice?

Working on- finding enjoyable activities for the evenings, he seems to be more fussy at that time, and I feel a little stir crazy at that time!

  • -Age: 4 weeks, 4 days
-Sleeping: Less and less during the day, would sleep all night if my breasts could let her. I let her go 6.5 hours last night (8:30 to 3) and then she was fussing in her sleep around 6 so I changed and fed her again. Now she's back down and has been for an hour. She cries in her sleep a little bit and struggles against the swaddle in the mornings.
-Eating: Breastfeeding about 10 times per day, starting to have one pumped bottle per day so I can go back to my part-time job two or three evenings/week.
-Milestones: I definitely saw her flip from her back to her side yesterday but that's not supposed to happen for months so I'm guessing it was just random. She moved up to size 1 diapers and the newborn clothes are too tight though she swims in most 3 months.
-Questions: When will I get back to normal? It still hurts to go #2 (though not nearly as badly), I've still got a couple hemorrhoids that are shrinking, and I'll occasionally feel a sharp pain in my perineum, like a stitch that's pulling on my skin.
-Working On: a schedule so I can make sure she gets plenty of tummy time, baby wearing that doesn't make her scream her head off intermittently
-AW: I swear she's started smiling, just a little bit.
