FFFC

It's almost Friday, so let's do it.

I go back to work on Monday. I have been off for 4 months. And I only work 1 day a week. But I am still dreading it. I don't feel like packing everything up for the kids and waking them up early. I don't even really like my job that much. I don't think I'm that good at it (which might sound bad coming from a nurse, but I have a PRN position and am kinda shuffled around wherever they need me, which makes me feel like I don't get a real good handle on some things that I rarely do). I wouldn't care if I never worked another day in my life and instead just raised my kids and volunteered. But that's not really practical right now as we are trying to save money to move, so..... back to work I go.

Re: FFFC

  • I've been planning lessons for C all day, and am excited for the next couple of weeks. And I'm wondering why it took me so long to make lesson plans. These past several months could possible have been a whole lot easier...

  • @uncaripswife I am jealous! Hope you have a great time :-)

  • DH goes back to work on Monday.  I secretly am excited.  It's not that he hasn't been helpful, because he has, but it's all on his terms and it's not always so helpful.  Add that DS has had nothing even resembling a schedule or consistent...anything for three weeks and he's been kind of a terror.  DH has had to leave a couple of times and it is like a switch flips in that kid - he goes from being crazy, demanding, whiny, and clingy to a independent, sweet, helpful kid.  I think we all are craving normalcy again.

Wait until the next FFFC...I may be eating my words.

  • @Rynleigh‌ I've always said to save on birthday parties, we would only do parties with friends on "even" birthdays (with the exception of 1 and 5, being big years). That's all awesome and fine until I realized... I've got two kids, both celebrating even year birthdays, birth SEVERN DAYS APART. FML #-o

We kind of talked about sabotabout doing evens for girls and odds forfor boys — which still puts two birthday parties in the same year, but they're all six months apart. And we'd have to make exceptions for 16 and 18.

  • We figure that between our twelve collective kids, who's birthday's run from late October to the end of February (with the exception of one May and one June), we'll just plop one big party right around August. I priced it out and we can do a party at ChuckE's for around $250 even with all twelve of them being added on as "birthday" kids... that saves us having to find entertainment that will keep them all busy, it reduces the amount of clean up we have to do, it doesn't force any of us to host... I just make a couple cakes, grab a big tub of ice cream, and let the mouse do the rest.

  • @byebyebooze‌ We still celebrate every year, we just have "friend" parties every other year. :). On the odd years, we have family parties and usual presents are bigger.

  • My confession is I don't want to potty train because I have a fear of outhouses and public bathrooms and the thought of taking a toddler in them makes me cringe.

  • To avoid public bathrooms we hve a little potty that stays in the car and we just throw a towel underneath it and set it on the seat of the car.

Um, YES. I am not even considering potty training until 2.5. That's the earliest I will let the thought cross my mind. Public bathrooms with a toddler sound like a complete and utter nightmare.

  • Bare butt on all the potties for life!

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

Maybe I'm spoiled (that can be my confession), but I would have been so, so sad if I didn't get to celebrate my birthdays as a kid. Once DD is old enough to get it - I'm guessing next year, judging by friends' kids - we will be having at least cake, balloons, and friends.
All the older kids get small parties where their friends from school are invited each year, and all the kids get to have a small cake and pick dinner on their birthdays. We're just completely 100% over having to attend parties for all of the kids in our extended family. Having 10 birthday parties (that's just for 10 of the 12 kids between us... we also have 4 adult birthdays during the winter) while also planning Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and Valentines' Day is completely absurd - and will only become more ridiculous over time as two of the families intend to have more children. So we moved the family celebration for all the kids to one big party this summer, so that we aren't hopping around all winter long.

  • FFSC: I had a little twinge of ha-see-what-it's-like this morning when I woke up the girls at 11am (4am my US time) to start getting them back towards adjusting to the time.
