I'd like to get some kind of cubby/bookshelf to organize DD's toys rather than just throwing them loosely in her toy box. Anybody have one that they like?
For smaller ones we have a series of lidless bins. One is for baby doll stuff, one is for all of her Little People and accessories, and one is for art supplies. I also have a flat basket that holds her sticker books, etc. All of these fit under our coffee table so you dont really see them. They are benign looking and I got them at Target.
For her bedroom in the closet we have a cube organizer that holds books in the portions without the cubes and then other items (socks, little blankies, etc) in the cubed ones. It looks like this (without the inserts in it):
We have some wicker baskets with hinged lids in our family room. We also have a open basket for books there. Upstairs in his room we have a large open basket for toys and two cubes on his bookshelf for smaller toys. I have gotten everything at target. At the end of every day DS helps pick up and put things away with us before we go upstairs to bed. Occasionally I will pick up during the day when the mess is really bad---but I've learned that it is just toys and not really that bad and to let it go till the end of the day. Once I put it away, it always comes back out again anyway. So it's just energy wasted.
FYI for those looking for organization furniture Target has a bunch on sale plus Cartwheel deals right now. I bought one of the Circo cubes today s well as a striped tote. I almost bought a cube shelf as well but couldn't justify it because I'm not sure where I would put it. I can't wait to have enough cash to finish our basement and put all the toys/crap down there!
