WWYD? Medicated cycles and the holidays

So this is my fourth cycle of Clomid, but my second IUI.  First two were Clomid + TI.  Last cycle was Clomid + Ovidrel + IUI which was going to be plan for this cycle.  I had my monitoring ultrasound yesterday and had one 14 mm follicle and 3 10-11 mm follicles.  Normally they would bring me back for an ultrasound 12/31 to 1/1 and if follicles were growing appropriately (about 2 mm a day) and I had a lead follicle 18-20 mm, I would trigger that night.  But, the clinic is closed on 12/31 and 1/1.  They feel that based on my follicle growth the last 3 cycles, I should go ahead and trigger 1/1 anyways, and we would do an IUI Sat am (1/3).  

I originally said ok, but now I'm freaking out that I won't know for sure if the follicles grow/mature.  I'm doing IUIs instead of TI due to CM issues on Clomid, so theoretically IUI does increase my chances compared to TI.  

Do I wait it out and request a monitoring U/S on 1/2, knowing that I may O before that and would have to skip IUI, or do I trigger 1/1 and take a chance that follicles haven't grown like they should?  Either way it's potentially a wasted Clomid cycle  Just one more reason why the holidays stink this year.

I really have no advice but that does suck I am sure ladies with more experience will chime in soon, I just wanted to wish you luck!

Ok I hadn't thought of that, I'll call and ask.  That would definitely be better!

Yeah, they are going to do an ultrasound on 1/3 before they actually do the IUI, so I guess if I have more than 3 CL they will stop?  I should've asked that.  This office will do an IUI with a maximum of 3 mature follicles.

They are open Friday, but the follicles aren't yet large enough to trigger tomorrow.  I was thinking of just waiting, having an ultrasound Friday, if things are ready triggering then, then IUI Sunday.  When I asked them about that though, they thought that would be too late to trigger.  They're actually open every day of the year except for Dec 24th/25th and Dec 31st/Jan 1st (go figure).

I hope it works out. If not, I would ask for the U/S. This is my 3rd Clomid cycle and everything has been different.....I wouldn't be comfortable with relying on past months...

Yeah, that's my worry.  It seems pretty weird to assume I'll be ready for trigger in 3 days based on one ultrasound and past cycles.  Obviously last cycle I had two ultrasounds.

I completely understand your hesitation and trying to figure or every possible scenario.
As a means to manage my sanity, I kind of decided to just trust my drs direction with most things. As in, if I'm seeking their help, let them treat me. I'm saying this assuming that you overall trust their judgment because there are some real asshats out there.
If they're planning on doing an u/s on day of IUI, to protect against too many follies, I say just go with what they're saying....they're the trained medical professionals

No timing advice other than what PPs have said, but you might want to cross-post this on 3T. Those ladies are super knowledgeable about IUIs.

My ugly period decided to show today and I'm out of state and can't get the ultrasound done until I'm back on Jan 5. I think I'm going to have to postpone until February

Good luck!  I lucked out and had my IUI today.  My clinic is also closed 1/1.  I'm shocked my follies were big enough but they were.  If you were at 14mm and they thought you were growing 2mm per day you would probably be ok to trigger.   However, if you go back Friday I'd have DH with you...if you look like you are ready to O they may have him give a sample and do an IUI that day.   If not, then you can probably trigger Friday for Sat/Sun IUI.
