How to Find In Home Daycare?

Is it just through word of mouth?  I don't even know where to start and know I should be getting on it pretty soon!

Re: How to Find In Home Daycare?

  • Check out this link:  https://www.childcareaware.org/en/parent_information/about.php

You can put your zip code into the Child Care Connector and it will provide the contact information for your local CCR&R (Childcare Resource & Referral Agency).

    Good luck!

  • If you have a college or community college nearby I would suggest advertising there in the child development program. ?You probably wouldn't get anyone FT until summer but I think it's worth a shot. ?I got my BS in Human Development and Family Science (kinda like child dev.) and when I graduated I wasn't sure what I wanted to do along with a lot of other classmates who found jobs to nanny and did so for a few years until they had a baby or made another career choice. ?This way you get a qualified nanny who you know is passionate about child development . ?I also found a nanny job on Craigs list but I know that can be scary to advertise there but it's a place that I checked when looking for jobs. If you do it I would suggest making the criteria more specific like requiring education credit hours and experience so you can weed out the weirdos :) ?GL! ?
  • I also searched the department of human services website.. they have a childcare locator.. you can put in your zip/county.. at least that's how it was for Michigan..  not only could I locate different providers but I was also able to look at all of their licensing information.. when it renews, how long they've been in business, if there were any investigations against them.. the details of that investigation.. all kinds of information.  My in home daycare wasn't in the paper or in any other listing.. the only way I found them was through this site.

  • If you or dh has an Employee Assistance Program as a benefit through work, you can use them to help.  This is how I found mine for my ds.  they did all the leg work and gave me the names and numbers of the places that met my criteria and then I called those places.  It worked out really great.
  • All of the above or post an ad online. I'm going through the process right now. I use Care.com and Craiglist. I am actually hiring nanny number 2 because number 1 had to leave.
