@mommyofamiracle With our insurance we have 30 days to add the baby after he's born, and then they will go back and retroactively bill all the medical expenses he incurred to his insurance once he's on our plan. I just had to make sure the clinics accept our insurance.
Maybe if you sign up for the tour and classes your DH will figure he might as well tag along with you since you're going anyway.
@loriann091 I registered at Target and at a local store in town. Both are showing that one thing has been purchased. The Target registry seems really glitchy so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.
I just spoke with DH in a moment of panic with the insurances and tour situation. And he had already spoken with his HR and she had told him to see her next week to get LO added to his policy. We also just scheduled the hospital tour! Phew! I was seriously starting to panic big time because now that Christmas is over, it's like the final countdown!
But he's more on top of it than I thought. Thank goodness. Thank you guise for your help!
Did anyone do a birthing class? Did you find it useful?
Thanks ladies I really appreciate the kind words. My main priority is that they figure out what is wrong and that we can get her better but it doesn't make it any less sad that she might not be here because of it. Still waiting on some answers from tests today. It also sucks being so far away that I can't see her.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

I'd put hospital tours in the same category as birthing classes: how well do you do with figuring things out in the moment? If you stress bad in stressful situations I would do it. If not, I'm pretty sure if you get to the hospital someone can point you in the right direction. I am not doing birthing classes but will be doing a tour because I like knowing where I am going if it's unfamiliar to me.
And you should call about your insurance ASAP. Some want info (confirmation of pregnancy and due date) to get it ready to go.. Some just handle it after. I have a 31 day grace period where anything that happens with my baby is billed through my personal policy. I would make that call before the pediatrician call too just so you know what you are talking about and to confirm they accept your insurance.
@erobbins09 - We are doing the tour on January 11th. I'd like to know how long it's going to take us to get there, where do we go, etc. So I'm glad that's scheduled.
DH is speaking with his HR next week, (after the new year) and they are going to get the insurance all figured out so she is covered when she decides to get here. I think once she's added, then that will open up a bunch of pediatricians that we can look at that are covered under his plan.
@MommyOfAMiracle this time is my third baby so I already have a pediatrician. With my first DD I just stuck with the pediatrician that saw her in the hospital, until I realized he was not the right one for us. Then I pretty much used word of mouth and went with one my SIL used for all her kids and that she trusted. I know you can set up interviews with different pediatricians but I don't have much advice on that.
Being a FTM that never thought that this would happen, I am a bit naive on what needs to be done before she's born. I feel dumb. LOL It's easy to get caught up in the birth of friends babies, baby showers, and looking forward to when LO gets here. But the real deal responsibilities are things that aren't often discussed. I'm seriously thankful that I am able to ask stupid questions, like these, here. So thank you. It honestly hit me this morning that we are getting so close! Trying not to freak out much, but just want to make sure I have all of my bases covered.
I have a couple of questions, and they may come off as dumb. But I'm a FTM and have no clue how all of this works.
First question: Do I need to find a pediatrician for my LO? Or do I take her to my OBGYN for her first couple of visits? If I need to find a pediatrician, how would I go about finding a good one? Word of mouth? Also, the baby hasn't been added to any of our insurances yet. When is a good time to do that??
Second question: Have any of you had a child previously without taking a hospital tour/ birthing class? Is it completely necessary?
Yes you will need to find your own pediatrician. Generally the pediatrician will see the baby in the hospital before you are discharged and all subsequent visits. The OB doesn't see the baby for care after birth.
A good way to find one is to contact your insurance company and get a list of covered providers then check their patient reviews through their affiliated hospital website. This should be done at any time between now and birth.
I did a hospital tour with my first but never took any special classes. Some find that the classes are very helpful though.
Due date got bumped from the 22nd to the 17th and little man is in the 64th percentile. Today has been a win!
No NYE plans. MIL flies in the 1st so I'll have a lazy night with DS and DH and probably get some sewing done since she'll keep me busy the whole week she's here

Question... Should I buy, a used bugaboo frog stroller, it comes with a bassinet and is in great shape. She wants 175. I looked it up and this is limited edition that retails for 740.
Who just fixed the shower drain that never drains, WITHOUT the help of drain-o, a pipe snake (it wasn't a hair problem), or a plumber? That's right! This gal!
And hubby and I are boring for NYE every year. We just stock up on summer sausage, cheese, and Martinelli's and watch the ball drop. We MAY get poppers to set off in the backyard, but that's about all the excitement we have....
Welp. Apparently it's supposed to snow tonight in my town. A town that hasn't seen snow but maybe twice, ever. I highly doubt it will stick, but it'd be cool to see. Everyone is freaking out around here, snow in San Diego is incredibly rare.
Everyone and their mother is trying to get me sick, I swear. I just simply do not have time to be sick. I work every day this week but new years, and then Sunday I have to attend a bridal show (wedding photographer here) and I'm seriously dreading being on my feet at the show. Luckily my team understands and will get it if I need to sit down. But here I sit, feeling EXTRA worn down and I have a scratchy throat. Can't I just...not be sick right now?
Ok ladies, now that juicy cervix chick GBCB'd, I have a serious question. I'm making jello for the first time (request by DH since he can only have mushy foods for a few days while his gums heal up - having two extractions tomorrow plus implants). I want to layer the different flavors. Do I have to wait for each one to completely set before adding the next layer? Should I just not bother making layers?
I believe you have to wait until it's stiff but not completely set. Like an hour or two between layers.
DS had checkup and shots yesterday. This is literally the first time I haven't had to hold him and give him tylenol for 24 hours straight! I'm so happy he's doing so well this time around! Usually it takes a week before we're back to normal. I'm going to go cuddle him while he's napping since it's cold and rainy here today.
Weird, but we have a chance of snow tonight. This would be the first time since the 70s if it actually does. Palm trees and snow! Mele Kalikimaka!

We just got the same notifications here in San Diego. Are you around the area?
I have a really stupid rant today. I hate when people "ask a question" rather than "start a discussion" because it automatically kicks to the "best answer" when I click on it no matter how many new replies the thread had. And if I'm late to reading a thread, I'm so confused because it's not in order because op has picked "best answers" that go at the top.
If you know of any neighborhood lists/groups to get on, go for it. Someone recommend I do it and I've gotten so many free things from it. Granted my neighborhood is full of babies, but I would of never known about this list, unless told about it. It's probably a very common thing in bigger cities but I'm a FTM with a very small wallet, so all these hand me downs have been amazing.
In honor of January being Cervical Cancer Awareness month, and since a
very close friend of mine is Cervical Cancer Survivor, I thought I would
design a set of Jamberry Cervical Cancer Awareness nail wraps! Still waiting on
approval, but what do you ladies think?
Holy f'ing braxton hicks today! They have really been picking up lately.
This morning DD pretty much cried and whined from the moment she woke up until I shoved her out the door with DH. It made for a bit of a stressful morning.
Hi @PeaceofKia ! Good to hear from you! Been thinking about all of these outside Feb 15 babies! Love getting to see their cute little faces! And they are totally adorable!
Spd is no joke. I ordered a support belt, I hope that'll help. I can barely walk. I have to walk sideways like a crab up my stairs. Hoping it'll get better but it may not. I feel like I jinxed myself. I've had an easy pregnancy and now I can barely walk and have 7-8 weeks to go. Stupid pelvis.

North about an hour. Brrrr! I need some hot chocolate! Its under 65°! Lol
So this happened tonight. The nearest Arby's is about an hour round trip. I blame @ChickenOnSunday. And pregnancy. And my love of Beef 'n Cheddars. But mostly @ChickenOnSunday

I feel your pain...literally. The past couple days have been awful!
I worked from home which means I answered some emails and phone calls, and then spent most of the day hanging out with my friend/coworker who's on maternity leave. That counts as a business meeting, right?
AW moment: DH is giving me a lot of little presents in the week leading up to my birthday because 1) I didn't ask for anything specific and 2) historically my birthday has kind of sucked being just over a week after Christmas.
I understand the Christnas/birthday bummer feeling. Mine is Saturday. My DD was yesterday and my DS is the 8th.
