Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone PG after an ectopic? ( loss mentioned)

I had an ectopic in July and luckily they caught it early at 7 weeks. I had to take methotrexate and then wait 3 cycles until ttc again. So far we have had nothing but BFN and I swear the methotrexate messed up my body. Just looking to see how long it took any of you ladies to get a bfp after.

Re: Anyone PG after an ectopic? ( loss mentioned)

  • I had an ectopic in June 2013, and I ended up needing surgery. It took me almost 18 months to get pregnant again.

I'm assuming you've only been TTC again maybe 2-3 cycles, right? I don't think you're anywhere near the point of concern about how long it's taking. It can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant.

    Best of luck to you.

  • I had an ectopic last Dec/Jan. which required surgery, I got pregnant again 9 months later (ended as a natural miscarriage) then got pregnant 2 months after that which leads me to now.

  • I did not have an ectopic, but it took my body 6 month to ovulate again after my blighted ovum last year.  I know the waiting is really really really hard.  Hang in there.

  • I had an ectopic in Feb 2013 and then a cp November 2013. With the ectopic I had methotrexate which was pretty rough on the body. Give your body the time it needs to heal. This BFP came in July and was the first after my cp and the first of 5 where I was able to see a heartbeat. Good luck to you!

I had an ectopic and was given 2 rounds of methotrexate just this past mid-October. They couldn't actually see anything on one of my ovaries/tube because they also found a large fibroid blocking the view in the ultrasound. But after the first round of methotrexate, my HCG wasn't going down fast enough. So, had a second round. It definitely sucks, doesn't it? :( Anyways, I have only had one cycle since all of this happened, and DH and I were not TTC. Yet, a little over 2 months after the 2nd dose of methotrexate, I was very surprised to find myself with a BFP.

  • I had an ectopic Dec 2012, which took 6 months for me to get back to "normal" after, so I was cleared by my OB June 2013. We chose to wait until after our wedding in June of this year and got pregnant right away.

I had an ectopic which was diagnosed in January at five weeks. Two rounds of methotrexate later and my tube ruptured in early February at seven weeks. It took until late March for my beta-hcg to go to zero. We waited three cycles after the second dose of methotrexate using mostly abstinence and then condoms. I didn't restart anything hormonal. Down one tube I got pregnant again in July.

Don't lose hope. It's hard waiting in general, but especially after pregnancy loss. Have you tried OPKs? My cycle changed after the ectopic and these were really helpful. Big hugs.

  • Thank you guys so much for the feedback! I just keep asking myself how I am going to handle the emotional rollercoaster of continuing to get BFN's. I have gotten 3 since we started TTC again and each time I find it overwhelming.

I always use OPKS.I just don't believe for the first few months after I was actually ovulating. I wasn't getting any of the normal symptoms I am used to getting (ewcm & spotting). I finally made my doctor take blood tests to make sure everything appeared to be ok and he told me last month it looked fine to him. Part of me just doesn't feel right ya know? I am 7dpo and if I am not PG this cycle, I am going to start temping next cycle.

  • My ectopic was also discovered at 7w and was treated with mtx. During the 3 month waiting period, I charted and temped. I learned so much about my cycle, including later ovulation and a short luteal phase. I got pg with my rainbow our first cycle TTCAL and I firmly believe that I owe it to temping and taking progesterone from ovulation. GL to you and I hope you get a BFP soon!
Is progesterone something your Doctor suggested, or did you approach them about it after the ectopic? I definitely think I need to start charting. Thanks for sharing your story!

  • I had an ectopic in May 2011, and rede methotrexate. It took an entire year for me to get pregnant again, and that was after I had to go on progesterone and metformin because the methotrexate totally ruined my cycles. But I welcomed my DD in January of 2013. Give it time, and pay attention to your body. So sorry for your loss!
