Re: Second and Third Trimester Discussion (12/29)

  • I'll start. I am 33 weeks today and the last few days have been really trying for me. Everything I do takes so much effort. I am out of breathe constantly and struggle to tie my shoes or put on socks. It is just so tiring to move at all. I am not that upset about feeling so bad, but knowing I have 7 more weeks of feeling like this is making me quite unpleasant. Also, today is a year since my MMC and d&c and I really don't know how I feel about it. I mean, obviously sad and upset, but I don't know if I should feel more. OR if I do feel more and can't tell because I am too pissy. idk. Sorry to be a bummer.

I'm in a weird place right now where I am so ready to be done with pregnancy and meet my baby, but my home is physically not ready at all. Baby shower isn't until Jan 25th.

  • @racegurl87 I spent 20 bucks on Amazon for a hip brace to sleep in so that I can side sleep, and it is honestly the best 20 dollars I have ever spent in my life. It holds your hips in place and I wake up with no hip pain, whatsoever. I highly recommend it!

@smcniff With DS, I think I was in some denial he was early at 36w6d and I didn't have a hospital bag packed, or even bought a crib. He didn't care, though. I don't know if I will ever feel like my house (or myself) will be ready for my second one. Thanks for the hugs and right back at you!

  • @footprint‌ (((hugs))) EDD are rough pregnant or not.

When are people doing their hospital tour? Mine offers a class you can take as well which we will probably do since my husband has not even changed a diaper. I'm pretty sure its offered once a month. I feel like it's still too early but I also don't wat to wait too long.

  • @kate6214 I start my 'prepared childbirth' classes next week at 34 weeks.  It goes for 5 weeks.  My other option was to do it in December, but there was just so much else going on before Christmas that it seemed like too much.

  • @kate6214‌ we did our tour a couple of weeks ago around 31/32-ish weeks? The hospital recommended that when I registered in September.

@racegurl87‌ I have 3 pillows and a small polar fleece blanket I sleep with under my belly. Depending on the night sometimes I use all the pillows and blanket, plus steal a couple from my H, other nights I throw them all on the ground and sleep with one. What is "comfortable" changes for me on a regular basis, but I ditched the big body pillow probably 10 weeks ago and just use smaller ones now wherever I feel unsupported.

  • Hey ladies! Just over 36 weeks here and completely exhausted. I don't sleep very well anymore and it's starting to take it's toll on both myself and my husband. My lower back aches constantly, and every now and then, usually with BH, it spasms and hurts.

I haven't done a hospital tour yet, and likely won't due any childbirth classes. Also, my house is not physically ready for LO yet, either. I have the dresser and a playpen, and a handful of outfits, but nothing else. MIL is insistent on a shower, which isn't until the 11th, so I still feel pretty unprepared.

DH and I scored a bunch of free wood and stone scraps today from our neighborhood. They're still building new homes in our subdivision, so we stopped and asked if we could take some scraps and they said yes, so we loaded up 2 loads of wood and 1 load of stone. Lots of projects are going to be getting done soon! Already cut the wood for a new entry table, will cut some for my oldest son's nightstand tomorrow. Looking at floating shelves, upholstered bench, hope chest, and more! Pretty excited about all that!

((Hugs)) to those who need them!

  • Good Morning, Ladies! 8+ weeks left for me and I can't believe how fast it's started to go. We finally started the nursery this week. And by started, I mean, we've picked out the paint  :) Baby steps.

    @footprint ((hugs)) to you.

@racegurl87‌ I'm also having trouble sleeping. I got a snoogle a while a go, which made a big difference but now I feel like I can't stay comfortable. I'll be fine on my side for a while then need to move to my back. It seems like the position rotation lasts all night.

@kate6214‌ We're doing our hospital tour/general childbirth class towards the end of Jan at 35 weeks. It was the best weekend date that worked with our schedule.

  • How did I miss this last night?  I have my 37 week appointment today (kinda early but New Years messes it up) – there wasn’t much progress last week at my 36 but I felt very thoroughly examined (GBS test, NST, cervix check) and left feeling very excited.  I have an u/s today (to see if baby is still breech) and then another NST on 1/5.  I assume he’ll do another cervix check today but we’ll see.  I’m hoping for another “not much going on” week because I have some stuff that I need to take care of at work and home yet.

  • @footprint ((hugs)) for your loss date yesterday.  I hear you about moaning and groaning and struggling with everything – it will get better, I promise.  I mean, it will take like 7 weeks or so but it will get better.  I find that sometimes I just need to laugh at myself and that helps.

@racegurl87 Boo to not sleeping well.  Do you have a recliner?  I have some luck taking naps in that when I couldn’t get comfy in bed.

@smcniff Almost there!  You can do it!  02/18 will be here before you know it!

@kate6214 I did my hospital tour at the beginning of November for an end of January due date.  When I called, they pretty much told me when to schedule it.  I think you are better off doing it earlier because (a) you will be more comfortable physically to walk around and (b) it might answer some questions that you will think of later on.

@morethansparrows08 Yay for 36 weeks!!!!  We are so close!!!!  I need new nightstands – DH keeps promising to make them but so far no luck.

@mrskblack11 Boo to back pain – that really sucks.  I hope the yoga helps!

@akleng Yay for picking out paint!!!!

  • @peggels24 We do have recliners (both ends of our couch recline and we also have a separate chair that reclines)... the bummer is that when I try and lay down there either my reflux makes a reappearance or our pup wants something every 10 minutes.

I hope that your appt goes well and that LO has flipped so she's no longer breech.

  • Okay I have a question for anterior placenta moms. OB told me yesterday at my 28 week appt to go ahead with my daily kick counts. My question is how do you handle doing it because LOs daily habits can still be random specially since my job movement changes constantly(I am a hairdresser so constantly up and down). That and I know she gets in funny positions and sometimes may be active but not in a spot I can feel. I just am confused as to how I should do it. My OB gave me the basics but I would like to see if you ladies have any tricks :-)
  • I'm looking for T&Ps. I'm 39 weeks measuring at 42 bc of excess amniotic fluid. I'm hoping that I go into labor this week otherwise I have to be induced. Just needing a little love.
@mmheartspb ((hugs)) Sending lots of T&P's that baby is ready go come NOW and you go into labor very shortly!  Yay- you are so close!!!!!!!

  • I have been so busy I have barely been on the board and I'm just into 2nd tri.

I always had to sleep with a body pillow or folded up blanket under my belly during 3rd tri with DS. The weight of my belly pulling on my back hips was killer. I hope you ladies in pain find some relief soon. I also used Tylenol PM on occasion to help.

AFM I'm enjoying finally putting 1st tri behind me and looking forward to feeling better. I'm also excited about feeling the baby moving around in the next month or so. I first felt DS at 19 weeks and I've heard that generally second babies are felt earlier. That is by far my favorite part of pregnancy.

  • @footprint - ((hugs)) Sorry you're feeling so crappy. :( Sending you ((hugs)) and wishing I could do more!

@racegurl87 - Hope you can get some good sleep soon. ((hugs))

@kate6214 - We start our childbirth class on Monday at 25 weeks. Some would say it's a bit early, but others say you want to do it earlier so that you can practice the techniques for longer. We haven't looked into the hospital tour yet, as we're changing doctors...again.

@morethansparrows - ((hugs)) to you, too. Sorry you're feeling yucky, too. Amazing that you got all that free wood!!!

@mrskblack11 - Sorry about the back pain. I hope the yoga helps--it makes a big difference for me.

@mmheartspb - ((hugs)) Sending t&p to you and your LO.

Reading all this has made me dread the third trimester somewhat.  %-( I've been feeling pretty good recently, but I already knew that wouldn't last!

  • I agree with @mmheartspb‌ this trimester isn't so bad, more aches and pains for sure, but I think that being so close to meeting my new son or daughter makes the aches and pains more pronounced and bothersome. I think for me, it is more about.my frame of mind. I need to get myself into a more positive and less tired spot.

Thank you to everyone for being so sweet and nice to me! I really appreciate it.

T&ps @mmheartspb‌ that baby girl makes a break for it soon and naturally. Have you thought about using a breast pump to start labor? I guess nipple stimulation is the only proven way to kick start labor. Best of luck.

@pblge‌ I'm always mobile and I was so, so surprised by your BPF at 24 weeks, because I thought you were a couple of weeks ahead of me. Kinda threw me for a loop!

  • Pretty much all my symptoms have vanished.  Other than the occasional sore nip.  If I hadn't heard the heartbeat a few days ago, I wouldn't know I was pregnant.  I know it's normal and I should be relishing the time when I feel good.   But if my symptoms disappear, then I at least want some baby kicks or baby bump.  Something to make it real.
Hopefully those kicks will show up in the next few weeks and make me feel better!

  • @CreechMommy‌, around 15 to 20 weeks I felt great -very few symptoms. It was weird after feeling so gross during the first tri. I didn't feel the baby kick until about 22 weeks, so there was a spell there of feeling "not pregnant". I think it's pretty normal.

    Lurking.

I had an anterior placenta with Nora. My Ob had me do kick counts once a day and then just pay attention to movements the rest of the day. I did counts after dinner. She was usually most active in the evening so it was an easy time for me. I'd sit on the couch with my giant water and drink the water while I counted. The rest of the day I just paid attention to movement and if it had been an hour and I didn't remember having at least some movement I'd stop what I was doing and give her a poke or drink something cold or sugary to get her going.

Pretty soon the location of your placenta shouldn't limit your ability to feel movement b/c baby will be big enough that s/he will be moving and kicking all over.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  -Philippians 4:6-7
