First PPP is light?

I just got my first postpartum period yesterday. It's lighter but still having to wear tampons and a pad at night but I was under the impression your first PPP was like the floodgates had opened up?! I also had like zero symptoms other than a backache but now I am a little bloated and have minor cramps.

That being all said has anyone had this too? What was the second period like? And should I consider myself fertile? I am as of right now assuming I am fertile and plan on Temping from here on out.

Thanks :)

Re: First PPP is light?

  • I haven't had mine yet but everyone is different, every pregnancy is different so therefore not every first PP period will be super heavy. Not sure I understand you're question about being fertile. If you're not on any birth control, you should always consider yourself fertile, even if nursing, since ovulation comes before the first period.

  • Yes, you should consider yourself fertile.

Not all PP periods are heavy. Some are light. Mine was.

  • Thanks all!
One other question--how long did your first PPP last and other ones you had following?? Just wondering, I had someone tell me theirs was like a day and then it left but then I've also heard they can go on forever...oh myyyy
  • Also to @angelsnight‌, regarding being fertile I asked if I should consider myself fertile after my first PPP because I had just got it BUT I wasn't sure if it was just spotting or something (I should have clarified that in my post). Now though I do know for sure that it is my official PPP and not just spotting

Right but my point was, even if it was just spotting, you should always consider yourself fertile (unless on bc like I said) since you can ovulate and get pregnant before you even have your first PP period.

  • Well my body did not want to take a break and I got mine quickly after the baby!!! But mine PPP are not painful or symptomatic like before LO. I do not crap almost at all. Before I would be in bed with a heating pad and way too much Midol.
