I was told by my doctor that I need to change my diet and eat more nutritious foods for the baby to grow. However, I have such a hard time eating anything because I am always feeling like I'm going to throw up! Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do differently?
Re: nutrients and morning sickness
I tested this on me: try to make oatmeal (with water, add in a bit of milk at the end just to milk it up;), pinch of cinnamon, half of banana. It will fill u up and helps fight nausea. For snack it's vegan gluten free vanilprotein shake with almond milk (or water) blueberries and spinach. You'll be amazed how good you'll feel throughout the day if you eat healthier and then you will not gain way too much either. I started with heavy foods this pregnsncy and became sick from it so I decided to not listen to my cravings and be more mindful of what I'm putting in. I do exercise also so that helps fight the morning sickness and it gives you extra kick of energy! Good luck!
Okkkk.
Exercise actually made mine worse last week. I'm a runner/hiker and I had t stop mid run once to puke. It certainly didn't make me feel better. It also exhausted me. Don't forget everyone is different. And the foods you mentioned above is making my poor stomach churn. Not everyone will "feel good" by just eating better and exercising when it comes to morning sickness. Some people just need to eat to survive.
Other day and almost
Vomited lol. I'm tryig my best to eat whatever I can keep down (I'm now on Diclectin and a prenatal and also a special 5mg folic pill)
OP, do what makes you feel good for now. Like PP said, it's all about survival.
It was. But I appreciate the change.
OP, I agree with others, eat what you can keep down. For some people smaller meals close together help. I know that I generally get nauseous when I don't eat. Personally, I'm not sick (yet?), but I'm almost entirely disinterested in food (exception: Popeye's extra crispy drumsticks). I've been nursing one cup of coffee for 2 hours because nothing sounds like I want to put it in my mouth.

Also, I am big and kind of a bitch. And Southern. But I'm a big healthy Southern bitch. So says my doctor, and that's the person whose opinion matters.

Even if you lose a few pounds during the first tri, your baby is going to get what he or she needs. You don't even need to add calories until the second tri, at which point you should be eating 300 calories more than you would ordinarily eat to maintain your weight.
Last pregnancy all I wanted was brownies, buttered pasta, lemonade, and apples. Salad was the worst followed closely by every other vegetable. I would have been deeply unhappy if I'd had GD, but thankfully didn't. I only gained 24 pounds, and our baby was a healthy weight and length. And - not that it matters - but I'm petite and not remotely Southern and would go to town on some fried chicken and waffles right about now.
Yes. I know. However, if you have it, you do need to alter your diet. As someone who subsisted entirely on carbs throughout her pregnancy, this would have been problematic.
No worries. My sister ate pretty healthfully and had it both pregnancies. Plus, I'm older (38 during first pregnancy and 40 this time). Since family history and maternal age are both risk factors for GD, I was worried I would too. Keeping my fingers crossed I avoid it this time as well.
To the pp on the high horse, you don't know everything and haven't experienced everything, if she were able to eat healthy food this post wouldn't even have been made.
Exactly
OP, have you tried gummy prenatals? That's all I can stomach. I actually have to remind myself they are vitamins so don't eat more than two.
