Possessed Toys!

Anyone get toys that are driving you crazy yet??  I got my little guy a toy phone from Target, called the B. HiPhone. I thought it was super cute because you can record your voice and he loves chewing on my phone so I thought it would be perfect.  But...we can't figure out how to turn it off and it will not stop talking/ringing!!  At 3 a.m. last night I had to go stuff it in a drawer in the basement!  I need to take the batteries out.  Anyone else have this toy?  Is there an off switch that I am missing???

Re: Possessed Toys!

  • That freaking dog. We got 2 of them at my shower, and DD couldn't give two shits about it, but it's still haunting our house.

And we have this monkey teething ring that is SO sensitive. If it's on the counter and you close the cabinet, it goes off. If it's on the table and you walk past it, it goes off.

Yeah we got a dog that has a mind of its own as well, decides to sing songs at 3am. But for the most part I'm getting better at switching all the toys off before putting them away.I hate it when one of them just goes off and I have to go through the entire basket of DD1's toys to figure out which one it is

  • We didn't get it for Christmas, but that stupid VTech Chase Me Kitty is driving me bananas.

Its going in the consignment bin.
  • Which dog are y'all talking about? I got DD that Leapfrog Violet dog but we haven't been home to set it up yet. I hope I'm not going to have a possessed toy too. My niece got a Furby Boom? Horribly obnoxious creature. It's the worst toy on earth.
  • We got a dog too!  Haha, you guys are cracking me up!  So far I'm okay with it.  Other than the annoying phone (and I only have myself to blame for that one) we haven't had too many really bad gifts.  Although, my dad is coming up in a few days and who knows what he will bring.  He likes to be very "original" as he calls it so he never asks for ideas.  In the past with my nieces and nephews, it's always fun for the kids, but awful on the parents.

Ahh I think we have the same monkey teething ring! Does it play a jungly themed "Mary had a little lamb" and an elephant roar? Those are the only two noises I can think of off the top of my head, but there's a bunch of other random ones too. It seriously goes off all the time.

And that dog... I thought we were lucky bc we hadn't received one yet - well DS got two for Christmas!

MIL gave us some ridiculous huge dog toy that you have to strategically squeeze its paws and ears for it to start talking or singing stupid crap and.. well.. #1 the crap its spewing is so stupid it makes me cringe and #2 i don't want my song thinking it's ok to pull a puppy's ears or paws or anything so its going in the closet.

I'm wondering if it's the same one DS got from my inlaws. The whiney tone of the singing voice sends me into fits of rage. And the thing is constantly saying "I love you!" which is a lie because him and DS just met. Also, I don't know if I want DS hanging around an emotionally slutty dog.
    This is gold.

Are we talking about this dog?? He is so annoying.
    DS got two of them.
We got two of these too. Wondering if I should return one or both now!

She also got the hippo ball popper thing. Anyone else get this?? Omg- annoying! What do ALL THE TOYS have to make noises? I stupidly got DD the cell phone because I didn't have anything for her yet and she is always grabbing for mine. It's going back.
  • Just got home and my BIL sent DD a Minnie Mouse guitar for ages 3+. If Minnie's voice isn't annoying enough it's completely inappropriate for a 6 month old.

MH's Aunt got us this: https://www.amazon.ca/VTech-Chomp-and-Count-Dino/dp/B00K89KFX0

It's been quite the hit. It makes me want to pierce my eardrums. It's currently stuffed in the corner of our master closet.

It's a v tech toy that explains it lol we have a v tech book that sings and it sounds awful! She just got these v tech go go animals and they go off by themselves randomly unless you shut them off. My MIL didn't know there was an off button so for weeks she said it would just randomly go off in the closet before Christmas.

This! Any little movement around it and it goes off! My 10 year old stepson and his mom bought it!

We have three of those! for two kids!

    "Let's sing and play games!"

I ran across this last week and I was like "get out of my lyfe"
    Hahaha. Ded!

DD1 used to be terrified of the dog. Then it became her favorite toy, so we had my mom bring her a French one from Europe. And my sister just got us the baby version for DD2 (he only sings lullabies and doesn't have all the buttons). So I guess we have 3 for 2 kids as well.
