Baby Jasmine was born on 12/19 at 5:41 a.m.

After several days of prodromal labor including an episode of false labor on Wednesday, 12/17, the OB asked me to come into the office first thing on 12/18 to check on progress. I was 4 cm dilated (I was 3 cm two days earlier) and she said I would likely go into labor in the next day or two. After leaving the office I started having menstrual-type bleeding and irregular contractions which turned into regular contractions by 1 p.m. I labored at home until 4:30 when MH was finishing up work and then called the OB who said to proceed to L&D.

After two hours of observation, I progressed to 5 cm and was admitted around 7:30 p.m. I walked the halls and stretched on the balance ball, and by 9:00 I was at 6 cm and OB wanted to break my water. I asked for the epidural at that point and took a nap between 11 pm and 3 am with the peanut ball between my legs; when the OB checked me at 3 am I was fully dilated. OB said to let her know when I felt an urge to poop and we would start pushing but that never happened. Around 4:30 I started having really uncomfortable back pain and told her I wanted to try pushing.

40 minutes and 10 pushes later, LO was born! Jasmine weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz and was 20 inches long and very pink.

I;m happy to say it was a pretty straightforward labor and delivery.

Beyond a 1st degree tear and some awful hemorrhoids, I am doing great. Baby has taken well to BF but has been slow to gain weight so far, so I've been on a strict BF schedule which is taking up most of my time these days.
