Birthday party- dumb question

We were invited to a joint birthday party for two 2 year-olds.  We know one little girl, but don't know the other at all.  WWS12 do gift-wise?  Get them equal gifts?  Get them each a gift, but make the one for the kid we actually know a little bigger?  Blah I don't want to spend double on this party, right after the holidays, but is that the right thing to do?

When I've gone to parties like this I only bring a gift for the child I know. At most I'd bring a coloring book and crayons/markers for the other child.

I've never gone to a party like that, but I know if I had one for Aria, I wouldn't expect gifts for her from people we don't know. A coloring book like pp suggested would be a nice thought though.

Ok, thanks Ladies!  I'll just get a little token gift for the kid we don't know then. 

I've never heard of parties like this either- seems a bit strange, but on the other hand, trying to schedule parties this time of year can be really hard, so it makes sense that way to combine if you'd be pooling from the same group of friends.

I've thrown joint parties and I would NEVER expect a gift for the child you don't know.

I had Emma and Sawyer's party together last year and I told everyone that they didn't need to bring gifts at all, or at least not for both girls. Almost every single person brought gifts for both of them. I would just bring a gift for the kid you know.
