Baby Names

Full name for Tess?

I've been really loving the name/nickname Tess for a while now, but I feel like a fuller name would fit better.

I've seen:
~ Tessa
~ Theresa
~ Thessaly
~ Tessley

Any others?

I also like pp suggestion of Ester/Esther.

I don't know what the heck the other two are at first glance.

  • Nameberry says: "Thessaly" This name of an area in northern Greece, known in the era of Homer's Odyssey as Aeolus. It's the name of a character in the graphic novel Sandman, and could easily be adopted for a modern little girl.
  • But I really love Tessa.

What do yall think of Tessa Claire?
  • As others said

    Tessa
    Esther
    Theresa (and its variants)
I know Tess's that are just Tess
    Elisabeth

None of the other ones you said

    I'll throw a curve ball - Tesni (Tess-nee)

  • I love Tessa. Was on my list!
  • I like Tessa from your list! I went to school with a girl named Tesla as well and always thought it was kind of cool.

  • I used to work with a Tselane (pronounced Tess-la-nee) that goes by Tess. I'm not sure if hers was made up or what.

  • I like Tessa, and Esther NN Tess is also nice. My MIL's name is Tess and I have never thought anything about it not being a proper first name, so there's that too.

  • I have never heard of Thessaly or Tessley, and to me they don't sound like real names.

I also know many people named Theresa and have never heard one go as Tess.

    I love Tessa though!

  • Tessa is lovely; a classic, not too popular but well known, easy to recognise and easy to spell.

(To me, not too popular is a positive thing!)  ;)

Then she can be Tess or Tessie for short.

If you call her Thessaly or Tessley, she will spend her life repeating and/or spelling her name.
  • Seeing as how Tessa is my name, I might be bias, but I like it :-) I loved growing up with a name that was easy to pronounce and spell, and I was the only one in my school, which I also loved.
  • Thanks ladies!
