Phoenix OB Recommendations

Hello to all of you out there!

I live in NW Phoenix, 35th Ave & Deer Valley, and work in Tempe (I-10 and Broadway).  I am just about 14 weeks along now and am desperate to find a new OB.  I have had 4 appointments now at Camelback Women's Health and do not wish to return.  I am looking for recommendations anywhere between the two locations, preferring a doctor who doesn't have you wait for an hour and a half to rush you out of the room within 10 minutes.  This is my first pregnancy and I want to talk about it, know my test results, enjoy this time!  I saw a previous recommnedation for Caring for Women, however they do not accept my insurance - United Healthcare.  I'd appreciate any and all recommendations you could share!

Thank you in advance for your time!  Have a great day!

Re: Phoenix OB Recommendations

  • I have United Healthcare and have been going to Caring for Women for 4 years. BUT, I will say that I've had quite a few apts there where I've had to wait FOREVER.

  • Thank you!  I will try and give them a call.  I truly don't mind waiting as long as the doctor takes the time to talk with me when its my turn :)

    Thanks again!

  • I see Dr. Jaacks at Desert West OBGYN and I love her and that office. I know 3 others people who use them as well and we all love them. Good luck!Smile

  • Thank you all for the great recommendations!
  • I third Dr. Jaacks and Desert West OB/GYN.  Good luck!
  • I am high risk due to a cardiac abnormalities, but I am seen at Phoenix Perinatal. They have multiple offices and an amazing staff. They are considered a specialist OB through my insurance BCBS so I have to pay a copay each time since they do not bill globally, but is well worth the cost. I love the doctors and nurses, they are truly amazing!!!!
  • I go to SunHealth OBGYM off of Grand Ave and Bell.
  • I'm 32 weeks and I go to Camelback Women's Health, too.  I have only seen my actual doctor TWICE in that time.  And both times I had to wait over 30 minutes and then she zipped through everything so fast that it wasn't even worth the time off work.  I'm not worried about the safety of my baby or myself because I'm comfortable with the hospital I'm delivering at (Good Sam), but I would not recommend Camelback Women's Health to anyone who is looking for a highly personalized experience.

  • I go to Dr.McKernan. He is located at Arrowhead hospital. I have seen him at least every two weeks, and now that I am nearing the end he sees me every week.I have heard good things about the other doctors in the office as well. I highly recommend his office. They have a lot of patients, but I have never felt that they didn't have time for me.
  • I also went to Camelback Women's Health and went through the exact same thing!! I waited for 45 minutes and I only was there for 5 minutes to urinate in a cup to confirm I was pregnant (which i knew already). They didn't give me any information but rescheduled for another appt 6 weeks down the road without giving me any info. sorry had to vent.... Now i go to Scottsdale Obstetrics and Gynecolocy with Dr. Eric Reuss. I'm satisified.

  • I got to maricopa ob/gyn and love them but they are downtown right by my office.  my sister also has dr. desalvo and was very pleased with him.  He delivered my nephew and was very nice and allowed us all to be there with her.
  • As far as location goes, this may not be what you're looking for, but I go to Contemporary Care for Women which is off basically the 101 and Guadalupe.  My doctors name is Dr. S. Linnerson.  It is a large practice, they also have a location way east Gilbert, but my doctor is actually the one who started the practice.  He wants questions to be asked and he has a straight forward yet calming approach to anything that comes up! I was referred to him in the beginning of my pregnancy and at one point was driving from North Phoenix to get to him and I wouldn't change doctors for the world!! also, on the insurance note, my insurance has changed about 3 times in my 29 weeks of pregnancy and they have accepted them all and i know also work very closely with you for payment plans if that's the route that needs to be taken.
  • Thanks again for the recommendations!  I ended up going with Caring for Women and have been very happy ever since!
