Shoes

What kind of shoes does your LO wear?

DS & DD have been in the Stride Rite SRT series pretty much since they started walking. It's once again time for new shoes, and I'm wondering if the SRT series has enough support for active toddlers, or are they meant more for babies? As a FTM, I'm not sure when we need to transition to something more advanced. If I knew the shoes were sturdy enough, my preference would be to stick with the SRT series (on sale of course!) since they're really cute.

Any advice?

Re: Shoes

  • We have no brand preference. We started DD in some shoes from Carters, then she wore some Toms for a while, a pair of Harajuku Mini sneakers that were gifted to her, and now she's wearing Vans and some high tops from Gap. She doesn't like the high tops as much because she can't take them off as easily ;)

  • DD normally wears shoes from Walmart.... I don't even typically look at the brand. She grows out of them so fast, I am not spending a lot of money on expensive brand name shoes. Plus, now that it's winter and she's hardly ever outside, she's always barefoot anyway. She doesn't keep shoes on unless she's playing outside.

  • We love SR. My son has a deformity with his feet and needs lots of support and the podiatrist recommended that brand. We got DD a pair the last time we were there (had a buy one get one coupon) and she wears them every day and they have held up great.

  • I think Stride Rite has enough support.  We like MoMo Baby, which is similar, support-wise.  Given that most of the kids I see wear total garbage shoes made of plastic, I think a softer sole is fine.
  • We also do Stride Rite for sneaker type shoes, which both are in during the winter.  Keens for summer.  DS2 also likes crocs in summer, but DS1 hates them for some reason...

  • I have stride rite and Keens for E. Coming from an adult who has to buy children's shoes (size 2.5) for myself, none that I've ever encountered have had very much support in them.
  • Walmart or joe fresh. My kid "plays hard" as her teacher says. Her shoes don't really last that long

  • We have SR because they are the only ones I have found to have extra wides.

  • Right now, Logan's favorites are his Justice League chucks. He wants them all the time

  • We do toms, polo, Nike, loafers from Janie and jack and chucks. The chucks get the most action by far. I want to get him some cowboy boots (we are from Texas) but I know it's so impractical!
  • Whatever looks new at the consignment store for the most part. :)

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

Since H is pretty sneaker obsessed, C has fancy Nike basketball sneaks. He also got a cool pair of Batman Converse for Christmas, lol. B has a couple of fancy Nikes, too, but her favs always end up being the he C9 brand from Target!

That us our current main shoe...the C9. Before that it was stride rite. Consignment is where it's at y'all.

  • E *loves* shoes. Right now his favorite pair are his new spiderman slippers. Usually we get him shoes at Payless, so I don't know the brand. I think he had SR once, but I look for cheep because he grows out super fast.

  • DD has two pairs right now. A pair of Converse sneakers and a pair of Jumping Beans Mary Janes. And Totes snow boots if those count. ;-) She seems plenty comfortable in them, but once the weather gets warm and she's playing outside some more, I figured I'd pick up something with better ankle support, which I figured I'd probably invest in something from Stride Rite at that point.

  • Stride rite is fine for any age. I like pediped better but I've never owned stride rite just tried them on DD at the store. She also had a pair of new balance that were great, supportive and light weight.
