MOTY

I have very low windows in my living room. DS can easily see out of them, and sit on the window sill (in fact, this is where he first started getting up the courage to stand). Earlier, I made some French toast and the first one I did burned, so my apartment is a little smokey. I opened one of the windows to help air it out. There's a screen on it, so I didn't even think about the safety hazard. DS just put his hands against the screen and it gave. He could have very realistically fallen out of the window. We live on the 3rd floor. I don't even…

I am still in shock. I just… I didn't even think about it being dangerous. What the hell is wrong with me?! Obviously the windows are now all closed and locked, and will remain that way, but still. Holy shit.

Re: MOTY

  • How scary! Thankfully nothing happened and now you know not to leave those open far. A lot of windows have restrictions now so they can't open more than 3". Maybe yours have that?

  • Ugh that is scary I'm sorry... Don't beat yourself up - nothing happened and now you know ... ((((Hugs))))
  • ((Hugs)) he is ok and you can breathe. I know it's scary.

So scary!  In our upstairs rooms we put window guards so the windows will only open a few inches and downstairs we only open windows from the top down.

I think we all have those stories, honestly. Having kids is an adjustment, and they will always find a way to make our heart stop.

My story is that I put him down to load up the car at DCP and when I looked up he was in the middle of the drive through. I put him in the car then immediately started bawling.

    That is so terrifying!
