And I gave up on getting and wrapping gifts. Everyone got something as an experience: tickets to a Lego convention, zoo memberships, gift certificates for boat tours. I hope they are enjoyed, wrapped or not.
And I was going to get my brother and his family tickets to the Harlem globetrotters. But he was being a butthead and not telling me if his family had the time free. Their loss. He only said the time was free after I told him "aw that's too bad. I was going to get you..." because he originally said they didn't have free time. There is long standing butt hurt here. They never want to do anything WITH us. Didn't attend our wedding, Isaac's first birthday, and numerous other family events. I blame my SIL.
We're driving to NC right now to see silent Bob's family. Where's everyone else? It's gonna be a long couple days. Dh and I haven't talked since Saturday. And then, it was only to tell him I wanted marriage counseling. It's been a rough year.
@cuterusaurus >:D< That's all a lot to deal with. Why wouldn't your brother want to spend time with you? Id be incredibly hurt if a sibling missed my wedding. And sorry things are rough with your H. I hope your trip is a good one.
It is going to be a long day today. And yesterday Ben was up till 10. Bedtime is 6/6:30. He's also been up a few times tonight, including for an hour right now. I really wish HS parents didn't need a huge feast or at the very least they could have brought the food to our house. We are leaving this morning at 9 and not coming home till 9 or ten.
Did I mention that we didn't get home till 10 bc we were Hs parents? And that Ben and H spent 6 hours there during the day yesterday while I was at work? And that Hs parents want to do dinner with us on Friday? This happens every year. We are supposed to alternate holidays. Thanksgiving was the ILs holiday. Christmas is my family's holiday. MIL freaks about how unfair it is that we spend half a day with my family, so H tells me to throw her a bone. This goes way beyond a bone.
Thanks @mrads and @econmama! I know that the silence is a symptom of a long depression, but not talking about it drives me bsc. I just want us to learn to communicate.i appreciate a certain amount of spontaneity in life, but when it comes to talking about future, dreams, thoughts, general bs, I'd really REALLY like someone to talk with. Like my dang dh. Grumble. We're both living a strange duality this year, being ecstatic and heartbroken at the same time. It's taking a toll.
@mrads my family was always very close until sil came into the picture. Brother would send cards just to say hi, call and chat forever, and be fun to hang out with. Then she showed up, and they both stopped answering phones, being nice. The stories are many, not the least of which is her telling her kids stupid lies about me, their aunt. And telling them things like I don't let Isaac be independent enough or that I'm overprotective of him. Damn right I am. And he'll be a ok. :-p
Ok this grinch needs to get a grip. I'm about to be at my il, prepared with only paper tickets to the Lego convention for the family. The kids are too young to understand. Quick, what do I do?
@cuterusaurus that's awful about SIL. I don't always love my ILs (obviously) but I would never have malicious intent towards them. As for gifts, a little bit of candy from the gas station can go a long way.
You guys, it is a literal Christmas Day miracle. Ben was up for two hours. I brought him in to bed, which has never ever worked for us. He is currently snoring away. And I'm not curled up on the floor of his room, which is what normally happens when he can't sleep.
Why can't I sleep? Woke up at 3:30 completely awake.
I hope you dont have pregnancy insomnia
Seems really early for that.
I had a really easy pregnancy. Except for damn insomnia that started even before I got my BFP. I hope it's just a one time thing for you, though. And happy half birthday, Cheetah. Our babies are getting so big.
G woke at 5 on the dot. He pee'd through his xmas pj's! I didn't get a picture of them yet. Attempting to get him back asleep but I didn't change his sheets so I'll be stuck in the chair with an achy back.
Merry Christmas everyone! My whole house is still asleep, but orange kitty struck again this morning. He LOVES meowing loud as ever to try to wake the kids up super early until I go and let him outside. He made it until 545am this morning and I noticed Nico leaked EVERYWHERE. I'm ready for some cheer!
Also, my grandma and I have been best friends for my entire life. We talk on the phone every single day, but she lives an hour away. She was really sad yesterday because my pap passed away in June, so this was her first Christmas without him. I loaded up the kids, picked her up, and brought her to my house for a sleepover so she can see her great grandbabies open their presents on Christmas morning.. My aunt told me that she called her crying, because she was so happy to be able to come. She LOVES her babies. I am so blessed to have every moment with her. She has Alzheimer's, but the kids really keep her going. I love that she wants me to retell the same stories about them over and over again. It is so sweet.
@jemasa33 How wonderful! What a great time you'll have with her! DH's g-ma is the only living great grandparent and lives many states away. So wish we could spend more time with her
DD cried out at 6, but stayed asleep. I cannot sleep now though even though I am exhausted.
Last night was hectic and with 1/2 the amount of people we are having today. DD went to bed at 9 and DS at 9:30 because they were so excited. I am glad they are still sleeping so they will hopefully be in good moods today.
DH's friend was over last week while I was at work. He was looking at our xmas cards on our cabinets and stopped at one. "Who is that cutie?" It was none other than Claire @simone711! Big burly guys were melting over her picture because she is adorable. :x And DH told him she is G's gf lol
Been a busy week here with kids so, I have missed you gals. Merry Christmas! I just set out Santa gifts and stockings. I let kids open presents last night because they have plane to catch in morning. Teenager's are not as fun because they just wanted IPhone so, that is all they got except for gifts from each other and other family. I hope your day it great. I am going to try to sleep a bit even though Liam made it to my bed early. He just broke a tooth and I see the next...poor baby.
Merry Christmas! >:D< @cuterusaurus! @jemasa33 that is adorable! I am glad she is able to spend time with you!
DH is up getting the turkey in the smoker while I am laying in bed. Allison hasn't woken up yet. I am excited for her to get up but the extra sleep will do her good for the long day ahead!
Can't wait to see all the pictures of all of the cuties throughout the day!
@jemasa33 how awesome!! What a special time for you to have. I loved every second with my grandmothers and miss them both terribly!!! Now I'm crying....
LO is in love with his frozen tissues he got.... Probably didn't need to get him anything else.
I sent DH back to bed he was way to grumpy at 5:45 when the kids were up. I was not about to deal with that all day. So now I'm feeding the kids cinnamon rolls and fending them off the gifts. (We don't open until after church). DS didn't want the cinnamon rolls. He said they weren't the same. Smart kid the last ones I gave him were the pioneer woman ones. Good choice kid, good choice!
Opening presents at the ILs last night was great. BIL and SIL were on skype from China, and C took every single package to the phone to show them before it was unwrapped, and then again after it was opened. He was jabbering away to them the whole time, too, so cute!
He would get so excited every time wrapping paper would come off and there would be a box. "Box! Box!! Biiiiig Box!!!"
Midnight mass went better than expected, except C was awake the whole time. He didn't want to go back to sleep when we got home either, so he slept with us all night. He's still in bed with daddy now.
I've been up for an hour with the baby, but I can't wait for C to get up and see what santa brought!!
Merry Christmas everyone! We had a rough night here, Eli was up a ton.
The kids found some Santa stuff under grandma's tree and I left a note from him to the kids saying that he dropped most of their presents at our house. They are super excited to go home later to see what he brought.
Re: Merry Spammas!

Dad just texted that mom is not feeling well, so plans should change. I'm so bummed.

@cuterusaurus hugs!
@jemasa33 how sweet of you. I'm sure your grandma appreciates you so much!
@econmama insomnia was my first pg symptom with all of my pregnancies. .. before any of my BFPs. Here's hoping it's just a short snap!
We are relaxing all day. The first thing Addie did this morning was vacuum. This vacuuming is too cute.
