Hi Ladies-

I doubt very much that many (any?) of you will remember me, but I was active on IF and PAIF back when I was TTC DS from 2011-2013.  I kind of dropped off the face of planet when I went into the hospital at 24 weeks pregnant with no measurable cervix and 1 cm dilated.  I guess I was too afraid of losing my son to continue to prepare for his arrival and being on PAIF at that time felt too presumptuous.  By the time it became clear that I'd probably get to take home a healthy, squirmy, baby boy it was too hard to get caught up with PAIF.  Anyway, all this is to say that I'd really like to come back and be part of the community again.  If you'll have me, that is.  (Pretty please??????)

My long and sordid IF history is in my siggy (I hope it updated!), and we're thinking of getting started again soon to try for #2 (consult scheduled for January 7th...UGH!).  As you can likely surmise from my screen name, I live in Texas (the central part), though I am by no means a native.  Professionally, I am a university professor, so I teach and do research (in East Africa).  As a mommy, I'm a breastfeeding mama who's struggling with whether or not to wean so that I can give IVF another shot for a sibling for my Sweet Owen Boy.  Anyway, if you've made it this far here's are a couple of pics of my sweet baby as a reward.  The first one was his first birthday and the second is one of our Christmas card pics from a few weeks ago....

I remember your name! Congratulations on your sweet boy! There are a bunch of ladies cycling again and there is a PAIF TTC check in posted weekly.

I Bf'd for 14 months and stopped to start IVF again. It was more emotional (for me) than I expected. Dd handled it like a champ!

Thanks for the words of encouragement on weaning @kmc84! I may be coming around for advice on the subject depending on what the RE says at my appointment. I'm so worried because DS is really attached to nursing. I recently got him a book about weaning at night (he currently nurses 2-3 times/night) and I think it actually made things worse! Now he's afraid that he won't be allowed to nurse at night like the little girl in the book!!

I actually recognize your name too. I also BF for 14 months and quit to cycle too. DS handled it fine but I was emotional for me too. I just weaned slowly dropping one session at a time.

I remember you too! I was on PAIF April '12-December of '12.

I'm still nursing J and she will be 2 on Sunday. She nurses about 2-4x/ day). We are back in treatment and I'm currently in the 2ww for an IUI and still nursing. My RE wasn't thrilled, but I told him that I had reviewed all the meds with an IBCLC. 

The biggest concern with the fertility drugs and nursing a toddler is that they are likely to tank your milk supply. If your RE is okay with the nursing, if you get a med list checked out, you can manage the nursing in cycle. There is a gal on the attachment parenting board who successfully nursed her 2.5-3 yo and had a successful IVF cycle. Lupron is an L5 drug, which will probably completely dry up your supply. This may do the weaning for you.

@Mrs.AmyDylan Thanks for the info on breastfeeding while cycling. I'll definitely bring that up with my RE. Maybe I'll need to find IBCLC, too. I live in a smallish town where there aren't any good lactation specialists, but I have to travel to my RE in a bigger city anyway, so maybe I can find one there.

@mnj05‌ Howdy neighbor! Are you in the Austin area? I'm about an hour and a half north of Austin, which isn't nearly as fun, but at least I get to visit Austin for RE appointments!

@EmAzeem‌ I definitely remember you, too! I think out LOs are just few days apart. Good luck with your FET!

@k8eeinTX - I am about 30 minutes north of Austin. My husband works in Austin. Do you go to TFC?

@mnj05‌ Yes! Dr. H, though I used to be with Dr. S. With 4 IVFs under my belt, I've seen just about everyone!

We were with Dr S both times. I absolutely love them! Dr B did our transfer with DS and she's the only other one I've ever seen.
