PSA: LEO / family

Just wanted to share a PSA.

If you have a metal shield in the windshield of your car whether you are in LE or the family member of a LE officer, you may want to take it down. I am in NJ and my husband was just notified by his PBA rep that someone in a nearby city was attacked for having it (for "being a cop").

I haven't seen anything on the news about it so the story is unconfirmed, but we would rather be safe than sorry. Just thought I would share in case anyone may want to take theirs down for the time being.

  • Like a sticker of some sort?

  • mine is a metal shield that looks like a badge and has suction cups and goes in the corner of the windshield.

it just shows support i guess , i don't know. my husband put it there lol. i hadn't thought of the stickers as well. i guess supporting police in any way could make you a target if this is true.

of course my husband had to go and get the LE license plates, so there is nothing we can do about that. can't take his plates off.
  • I got a similar notice from C.O.P.S. I hadn't put my memorial badge on the new van yet, now I'm afraid to :(
I'm sorry :( sadly i wouldn't do it right now. better safe than sorry ya know?
  • This is frightening & crazy.
    yes, it really is.
i'm trying not to think about it. otherwise i will just make myself crazy.

at least H is off the next few days and we will be home / with family.

We never put one up for this reason.

They have special license plates here too and DH said he'd never want it.
I wish DH didn't have the license plate. I am going to talk to him about getting regular plates.

I don't know that I would go through the hassle of changing plates. Let's hope that eventually this won't be an issue.

  • I don't think MH ever put up anything like this in his car, but I will double check with him. Thanks for the heads up. He doesn't even like stopping anywhere when he is wearing his uniform.

I told H to avoid stopping anywhere in uniform if possible.

Someone in a town about 40 min from me was arrested yesterday after posting on FB that all cops should be killed. I just read that they are looking for another person who posted the same sentiments today.
  • I just wanted to say as a firefighter/paramedic and a firewife that my prayers are going out to all of y'all who are or are married to LEO's. I have nothing but support for you ladies and your husbands. I appreciate everytime they put themselves on the line just to make incidents safe for us!
