Is it time for the airing of the grievances? How about the feats of strength? No? Well then, who's still around? This is my last day of work for the year, and it is SO dead here today.
I'm so jealous it's your last day of work @melody921.
Work will be slow today. The market is open a full day and tomorrow a shorter one but no one cares about their investments when it's Christmas!
I get my nails done today then DH's family will be coming over to celebrate Christmas tonight. Tomorrow we're celebrating Christmas since DH works on the day. I'm so excited for DS to see his train table. I'm going to be the annoying mom with the video camera and the regular camera going.
We put the train table completely together last night. Wow, the directions, awful!
Also it's doing a rain, snow, wintery mix here. The roads are horrible. Makes me wish even more that I was home snuggling with my buddy. He's feeling much better today too! Yeah for a Christmas miracle!
I'm here. I have to work today and tomorrow but then I'm off until NYE. It's pretty slow so I'm just going to do the minimum to get through it. I think that's pretty much what everyone is doing anyway.
Poor Maya has a minor cold but she can't stop coughing. I think it's just the draining in the back of her throat because her nose isn't actually stuffy and she coughs mostly when she lays down, but I still feel so bad for her. This is her last day of school before winter break so I sent her after dosing her with some Zyrtec. My mom guilt is getting the best of me this morning.

This is our entire household right now. The coughing is horrendous. I think it's just one of those things that needs to run its course, but I also feel bad for the kids because they sound so pathetic.
OK, I need to AW my elf husband right now. He finished the dress-up cabinet for the kids yesterday! I did help with some of the painting, but otherwise, he was pretty much the muscle behind my Pinterest idea brought to life!
The original trash-picked dresser :-p
After he gutted the inside and added plywood in the back:
The completed paint job and tension rod:
The mirror:
The drawer pulls, to be used as hooks:
I CAN'T WAIT to add their dress-up clothes! I got a ridiculous assortment of stuff at consignment and Target post-Halloween. Tutus and policeman hats and a banana suit, oh my! They are going to be so excited!
@melody921 That turned out great! I'm so impressed!
I can't get my phone to update my e-mail, FB, etc. It says connecting but nothing has updated since yesterday. I hate it when stuff like this happens because it makes me feel like a freak that I am that dependent on my phone.
That's awesome! What a fun piece. I'm sure your DH is proud of it too. I wrangled my husband into making something for the kids for Christmas too. He wasn't super into it at first, but he totally took over the project. (We made Lego trays to go along with a Duplo kit we got each kid).
LOL, I think DHs secretly love these projects :-p I figure I came up with the idea, and he made most of it happen!
I'm here pretending like I don't have a bazillion things to do today!! DH is at the dentist and then we have to hit the stores hard! After that, I have a ton of wrapping to do! Thank goodness for grandparents who love keeping Nola so we can get it all done!!
Aw man that makes me wish I did dress up stuff for Winn. DH was a butt nugget about me buying clearance halloween costumes so I just dropped the whole thing. That is so cute @melody921 !
I'm sitting here thinking about what my VM and email are going to say when I'm on ML. Do you just say "I'm on leave until April 8, please contact bla bla bla"?
Yah, that's where I'm at. I'm ready to be on Christmas vaca and ML already. Doodlydee.
I need to AW my H too. He brought up all the presents last night from their hiding places. We divided them into Santa and Mommy&Daddy piles. Then he proceeded to wrap every last one of them, with the exception of a few clothes & pjs that needed some shirt boxes. My only job was to sit on the couch, relax and fill out gift tags.

That's what mine said. I'll be out of the office on leave until _________. In my absence, please contact _______________.
I got my SIL in the secret santa exchange. We all list 3 ideas on a card. All 3 of hers are gift cards. Am I weird to think that's strange?
Yeah, a bit odd. I definitely love to get a gift card, but if it were for a Pollyanna, I would list some items that were actual gifts. Otherwise, it's like everyone's just swapping the same $50 or whatever in gift card form. Kind of lame.
I actually wouldn't mind if the younger adults with no money asked for gift cards, but I guess I thought grown adults would suck it up and list a gift. We all have our own money; it's not fun to buy someone a gift card.

I agree! Nobody asks us for a Christmas list, so thankfully I don't have to make one. I always worry what people will think if I ask for things that are expensive vs. not expensive. I have decided I am much too worried about what others think.
I finished all my wrapping last night. I unearthed some seriously old, ugly paper in this giant bin of Christmas stuff. And since DH is the one who never likes to throw anything out, I used it for some of his stuff, lol.
I haven't yet figured out how I'm going to wrap DH's stuff. I'm going to try to get hme before him today so I can get it all in boxes. Then I will probably just have to wrap it with him there in the living room tonight or barricade myself in a bedroom.
I hate you all. I'll be at work everyday other than the 25th and 1st. Bahumbug.
I'm sorry :-( I've been there. There were many years I worked holidays and/or all the days around them. It's definitely no fun. Although I did actually have a little fun the year I got to visit the prison on Christmas for a newspaper assignment.

DH keeps buying the hideous paper. It's nevery ending. To be fair, he's had presents under the tree since the 3rd of December. Anyone need huge rolls of ugly paper that don't fit in the bins?
I need to wrap Luci's presents. I am waiting, simply because we already have three for her from other people and it drives her nuts and she is constantly whining that she can't have then NOW.
One of my employees is wrapping her Christmas presents over lunch in our break room. I told her I would help her because I really ridiculously love wrapping presents. Seriously, give me all the presents to wrap!

I gave a list to MIL with a huge range, from a bag of peanuts to a nice watch so she could find something in the range she wanted. FAIL. She thought I wanted everything on the list. Uh, there was like $500 worth of stuff on the list for her and my mom to get ideas from. Sigh.

Me too, except I took the 29th off too. But since I work from home, my working tomorrow is going to be a lot of "gotta go move my mouse around for a bit". I just had my last conference call for the week so I just have some reports to get done at my own leisure.
DH doesn't like the Santa Doesn't Wrap concept, well he more just likes to act like it, but I'm not budging on that one. So this year I said we can wait to put any presents under the tree until Christmas Eve when the kids go to bed so they get that excitement of seeing it all for the first time Christmas morning. I'm already hating this plan though as the boxes pile up in my office. I want them under the tree!
I was originally planning on working all day today, and being off tomorrow-Monday, but I fell asleep in Hannah's bed last night after I tucked her in, and H came home and didn't wake me.
...so I have 0 cleaning done, and haven't finished wrapping, and we are hosting Christmas Eve for 12 people in my family.
So now I'm leaving at 2, and I'll be lucky if I'm not up until midnight tonight anyway.
@loislayn Kick up your feet and drink some wine - seriously. I'm told not to bring anything every year, and then they all razz me for not bringing anything. So I drink, then I do all the clean up.
So I met with the VPR and all of that last week, and then went in and talked to my boss before he could meet with him to give him a heads up, and explain why I did what I did.
It's awkward now, which I expected, but I'm hoping to be out of here soon.
We also have to have our follow up with the HR consultant, which will be a true airing of grievances and I am uncomfortable just thinking about it, and hoping that I have another job by then. Haha.

Where's that purse lady? So happy that your employees did that for you!
