13 days past IUI 21 HCG with spotting

Hi all: Brand new here and first time ever being a tiny bit pregnant! Excited but very cautiously so.

I got a very faint positive on the Early Response home pregnancy test, this AM which was confirmed by a 21 HCG blood test administered by my OBGYN today. 

We did IUI (with Clomid and Ovidrel) on Dec 9th -- 13 days ago and my last period started November 27th so this is day 26.

I have been having light bleeding -- more than the occasional spotting but not as heavy as a period -- on and off since yesterday.

I am VERY nervous that this pregnancy is not really taking . . . Doctor says we are a go but of course it's early. Starting progesterone (200) suppositories today and doing another blood test tomorrow.

Anyone out there with similar experiences? Would be keen to hear. Really worried and unsure if I can even feel a little bit excited . . .

    Thank you super helpful. I am most worried about such a low HCG . . . 21 at 13 days past IUI.

    Welcome and congrats!! I'm not even going to tell you not to worry because we all know that's impossible because we will worry! The thing you would want to watch for is bright red bleeding. If it's light and pink or brown it could be nothing. I would take it easy if you cdn. Try to drink a lot of water and relax. Easier said than done I know.

    Thanks for the encouragement -- much appreciated! I have stopped spotting -- yeah -- but took another home pregnancy test (First Response Early Results) and today's line is lighter than yesterday's. I am now 14 days past IUI so one would hope it would be getting stronger/brighter rather than going in the opposite direction. I did drink a lot of water and tea yesterday so perhaps the urine was a lot more diluted, but I feel like that is grasping at straws and very much worry that with such a low HCG this is not a viable pregnancy and of course that is making me anxious and miserable. Thanks.

    Yeah for no more spotting. Hope that you have a late implanted and tomorrow will bring good news. Good luck!!
    TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. New RE 9/2011. IVF 2.2 completed using HGH,EPP,DHEA, Q-10 and accupuncture. Transferred one 8-cell, grade one embryo on 10/19. BFP 10/31/11 Chemical pregancy on 11/2/11. Started stims for IVF #3, our final try, on 12-2-11. ET on 12/18. Transferred 3 Grade A embryos-BFFN Planning DE IVF, late March/early April- Donors ER expected to be 4/2-4/4. PAIF/SAIF welcome

    I don't think you can put much stock in lighter or darker lines. A + is a + ! The only thing that tells you how things are going is if HCG is doubling. It's very hard, and I don't always manage this myself, but try not to borrow trouble. GL!
