Why is everyone so rude??

So I'm new here, I've never posted or commented or anything. Still trying to figure out how to use the app. Anyway, every discussion that I have clicked on contains numerous comments that are insanely rude. I thought this was a place to get advice from and ask questions to other mothers or expecting mothers. Why is everyone so judge mental? I've barely seen any posters get answers or advice, instead they are getting bashed by others. What's the point of being on here if you are going to try and hurt people?

  • Obviously I wouldn't be referring to the people that have been supportive to others. I've seen women who have relationships with others on this site. I thought that was the whole purpose of clubs like this. Not for people to talk shit to others..
  • Some people that post on here lack the ability to use their brain and search to see if there's already a post concerning their topic.

Many regulars on here see the same posts every single day by "new people" who don't even bother to come back and respond.

Hang out awhile and you'll see!!

New day = same posts by different people.

  • I've also seen that happen on other discussion boards I have been on. I agree it is annoying, I've just never seen people respond In such a way. I came because I'm a first time mom and would like to see what others are going through as I'm sure that's why most others are here. I just thought it was crazy the way people are being treated bc they did something wrong, or asked something that someone didn't agree with.
  • I'm not sure which ones I happened to read honestly. I just thought most of it was not supportive at all, which is what we all need
  • Ha. No. I'm not an idiot. I, too can be sarcastic.

I just don't get it. How do people just show up out of the blue and leave posts like this? I mean, even if you had a thought of what the bump would be and then we're disappointed, why wouldn't you just leave? Why bother posting?? A person couldn't possible expect any kind of positive feedback with a post like that.

Bottom line- you couldn't possibly show up out of no where and understand the dynamics of this board- just like in real life when you go someplace or do something new, it takes time to get acquainted with how things work and the social cues we all follow here.

    Edit: spelling
  • Can we pick something other than food? I'm starving and husband won't be home for another hour... Which means dinner isn't for another hour.

Oh bahumbug ... We've covered this in several posts where people start whining that we all have mean girl syndrome , fact of the matter is some post are trolls , so we just have fun with those ones and some are repetitive stupid questions that have been answered or we are sick of answering .. If you haven't posted yet you obviously haven't read enough to realise this, and there fore kabluey , and all that jazz.

Ps I have better things to do than sit all day on an app/ site ( yes it's actually a site with a mobile app version not the other way round ) and bitch at people ... So pineapples and grapes and cherries to you !!!!

Edited ; because I forgot to add

    Stop pissing in my ear.
  • @snedge it's ok. Lol I started my post before you had responded. But now I really want some ham...

@snegde‌ I'm trying. Really, I'm exercising a lot of restraint here and only because you asked nicely.

I'm failing too. I'm shutting the "app" and going to clean the guest room.
I hate to one up you on shitty things, but I'm going to clean all four of the toilets in the house to help. I found out yesterday that I'm hosting 30 people for a Christmas party on Tuesday. Have I mentioned I have no aptitude for cooking and I've never hosted a dinner party? I'll trade you spots, if you tell me that you're sitting on your couch Tuesday night instead of cooking your ass off.

Sounds like the perfect time to bust out a slow cooker and keep things simple! Is it supposed to be dinner, or just appetizery things?
  • @souptin. It's all good. Still love you guys. ;) I was more or less complaining about starving. It never fails. I get really hungry about an hour before he's due home pretty much everyday that he works. My body is cruel.

So lets make this thread useful.

    Help Soupy Save Christmas!

For Christmas eve in my family we eat seafood. I want to keep this alive starting this year and carrying forward. I need a delicious and easy-ish seafood dish from you.

this is what I have  for seafood at home: 2 packs of shrimp, 1 pack of scallops and a fillet of  salmon.

I was thinking a pasta surf and turf dinner with Steak. I dont have to use all of the above ingredients but thats what I have. I have time to get more ingredient fill ins too.

this dish only needs to serve  2.5 people so it doesn't need to be massive.

    all recipe suggestions welcome!

come on and help you ol`pal soupy out!

My mom used to make delicious shrimp linguine with garlic butter sauce. Easy and tasty!

This looks pretty much identical to her recipe: https://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/11671/shrimp-linguine/
  • Super duper easy pie for dessert. I make this as a go to for taking to get togethers when I don't have a ton of time. It takes about 5 minutes to make then put it in the fridge overnight. Tastes similar to cheesecake but WAY better than the no bake pre-packaged ones. Great plain, or with cherry pie topping.

I can't help on the seafood front since I don't eat seafood, but steaks and baked potatoes are always easy. Just set up a nice platter for self serve with the potato toppings like bacon, chives, butter, sour cream, cheese. If you wanted to give options you could do regular potatoes & sweet potatoes (butter & cinnamon sugar).

If not doing a seafood pasta you could always do an easy pasta salad. It should go nice with seafood or steak.

Another easy appetizer that goes nicely with a veggie tray is a cheese ball & crackers. Very easy to make yourself and you can make it the night or two before and keep in the fridge.

Buy a big spiral ham that you just need to warm. Make hashed brown style Cheesey potatoes, and a big salad and pre made dinner rolls. Put together a meat and cheese plate, veggie tray, and shrimp cocktail for appetizers and buy a really good dessert from a local bakery and call it done.
    ;)

This is what I want now, I just text it to my mom! I just need some tamales with my ham.

Anyone ever make banoffee (that's banana-toffee) pie? Our English friends made it for us once and we now make it for almost every holiday. It is the most delicious thing I've ever eaten.

That looks delicious... If only I wasn't allergic to bananas. :(

Someone missed the most important part of this post. FOOD!

  • Thanks for your post!

I appreciate that you asked it as a question and want to understand instead of just giving up on the forum.

Rest assured, being here for months only reveals the dynamics of the boards are indeed bitchy.

If you can read past the self-important snarky nonsense comments, there is sometimes helpful information. Welcome! No secret handshake required.

  • Can you guys make a new thread for the food talk? I was interested in reading this discussion.

    Thanks!
  • rsaj0807 we just had a customer bring in 300 peanut butter balls only to find out that our boss had ordered them for her one of her Christmas parties and not for us. Now we get to be here until after 5:00 pm just knowing that they are in the fridge. :((
