Since weaning LO and the return of AF my cycle has started 3 days earlier each month. My last cycle was 28 days. With that in mind, i have found it difficult to pick a day to start testing. Last month when I followed the chart using First Response I missed O.
This cycle I am using Clearblue advanced ovulation sticks. I started testing the day after my period ended and got my first flashing smiley face today. I was reading the FAQ and it says that the test uses an algorithm and to use the same holder for the cycle (which I did), but now I am wondering of I skewed the results by starting too early? Any thoughts?
Not totally sure about that, it would seem like it's OK to do. Last month I had some weirdness with the digital AND I started temping late so I got the regular sticks too and I'm going to use both this month just so I can be sure.

I'm not sure either but I've heard people complain about the CB advanced ovulation tests before. I've always just used the regular ovulation tests with the two lines. I tried the ovulation monitor for a few cycles but it drove me crazy so I ended up using the sticks too. Good luck!

Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl!
I've used the CB advanced tests without very many problems (baring the weirdness of this cycle). I always start testing the day after my period ends (usually day 7, no later than 8) because I tend to ovulate earlier than I would've expected. I don't know what day you're currently on, but I've had anywhere from 1-5 days of flashing smileys before I got the solid smiley. I think as long as you're keeping track of your temps as well, you'll be fine
Thanks everyone! I haven't started temping yet. I intended to this month but got sll Christmas busy and didn't fond a thermometer. I was hoping to find one that doesn't beep and is backlit. It seems this does not exsist. :-(
@shoecrazysarah Not sure what your concerns are about beeping and backlit. In case it's helpful..mine beeps and is not backlit but...
1) I take my temp in the dark so it's good to have the beep to know it's "done" I actually grab it when the alarm goes off, pop it in my mouth, and lay back on the pillows with my eyes shut (being careful to keep my mouth closed but sort of almost falling back asleep)
2) since I use my cell phone as my alarm and that's where my FF app is I use the light of my cell to see the temperature so I never have to turn the bedroom light on. I record the temp and then go right back to sleep on the weekends.

Off Mirena Nov 2013, On Nuvaring end of Jan, Back off Sept 2014. Never ending cycle starting end of Sept...
11/14 Provera failed... cycle continues
12/14 High FSH (57 "midcycle") OBGYN had no clue... about anything
01/15 More lab results coming back from RE. U/S showed small (1")cyst on left ovary, thin lining, and couldn't locate right ovary so possibly straight to DE and IVF
Occassionally mess with the chart below to see "what if" and learn (not to make it pretty but because FF stays drunk with me).
I have no information/experience with digital opk's as they are way too $$$ for me...
On temping: I would set my alarm for the weekends when I was temping. My thermometer did / does beep which lets me know the temp is ready. My therm "remembers" my temp so no need to record at that time which assists on weekends/going back to sleep. It is very quiet and does not disturb my dh; if anyone is that easily disturbed they wouldn't be able to sleep with me and my dogs in the room anyway. Best wishes!

it's like you're in my head since that's almost exactly like what I do! I don't set an alarm since I've got a bratty toddler who wakes me up at pretty much the same time every morning. If it's still dark or I really have to get out of bed right away, I use my phone to tell what time it is and usually just record it later on and set the time to when I actually took the temp.
Thanks again! I was concerned about the beeping waking DH as he only gets about 5 hours of sleep a night. He is a hard sleeper though, so maybe the beeping wouldn't bother him? I was thinking the backlight would let me know when it was done as opposed to beeping. I wake at 5am everyday like clockwork so no problems there :-)
@kelley72 which thermometer do you use since it is quiet? LO is right across the hall but it sounds like he wouldn't be able to hear it, right? He's such a light sleeper, like me. Thx!
I use ReliOn which is the Mabis/same manufacturer bought at Walmart for about $7... my dh has never heard the thing, I cannot imagine your lo being bothered by it as mine sleeps next to me most of the time and not bothered. The backlight won't help you know when it is finished as you would have to take it out of your mouth to look... you need a beep
I am currently not temping, this cycle is a break and will re-evaluate with new year what dh and I plan on doing.
